True.

Buckster seems to perpetuate the myths about MacArthur. Last year was his first full NHL season... but he gets plenty of criticism despite his youth and inexperience. People act like he's been here forever, probably due to his emergency recall during the injury crisis two full seasons ago.

With Portland restocked there are better options. I think Ruff wants those 3 healthy scratches to be competing for playing time and be able to change the complexion of the team when they're used. I don't see Paetsch in that mix.
This is exactly why I think Paetsch being waived is becoming more and more likely. Paetsch gets cited for his versatility, yet that versatility is never used unless there are no other options.

Like Buff said, Portland provides a slew of new options now. Paetsch is completely worthless. Waiving someone like Ellis instead would be moronic.

Paille paille paille. Hes shown little to nothing, wont make it onto the 3rd line as long as Hecht - Goose - Grier are together, and Id rather have a 4th line of Mair - Ellis - Kaleta or Ellis - Mair - Kaleta.

I dislike everything about Paille, believe me, but atleast he has experience, and if anyone gets injured on the wing, he's ready to play... be it 2nd, 3rd, 4th line.

Paetsch on the other hand is utterly useless. Myers is here to stay. we have 7 NHL defensemen, and an NHL ready Weber in Portland, and veteran Joe Dipenta as well.

I wouldnt be upset if Paetsch is waived, I just have no respect left for Paille...

But If its anyone other than those 2 I'd be upset. Myers and Kennedy belong, and Mair and Ellis can both play on the 4th line.

Paille goes.
Why would you be stunned that Bucky has something illogical in his column?

I'd be stunned if he didn't make a stupid statement like that.

As for the actual topic at hand...only Kaleta, Butler, and Kennedy are on 2 way deals (and of course Myers)...so does this mean they are actually going to consider waiving someone on a 1-way contract?

They should. Also Myers isnt really on a 2-way as he cant be called back up.

Kennedy belongs and Kaleta and Butler arent going anywhere.

Just a question:

Am I the only one who would be sad if Paille was waived?

This is a contract year for him, and I really excpect him to have a breakout year this year. This is his a deciding year for his career.
I really excpect him to step up.

i would be sad to see another 1st round pick enter bust status for our franchise.

Trade him for a 3rd and id be happy.

IIRC they did it with Jeff Jillson in 2005-06.

I think Ruff will send Kennedy down. That is the easiest solution. We will have injuries soon anyway. If someone has to go i vote for Paetsch.

With the way Ruff shuffles lines, they all should be looking over their shoulder.

Barring a complete re-shuffling of lines, the easiest thing to do would be to shift Roy to 2nd line LW, move MacArthur to the 4th line LW spot, and sit Mair or Ellis.

Vanek-Connolly-Poms
Roy-Kennedy-Stafford
Hecht-Goose-Griere
MacArthur-Ellis/Mair-Kaleta

But if that doesn't work, I wouldn't mind seeing him completely blow things up and try some crazy combinations now that we have some new blood.

Vanek-Connolly-Kaleta
Hecht-Kennedy-Pominville
Goose-Roy-Grier
MacArthur-Ellis/Mair-Stafford

Roll em all evenly. Every line is a legit scoring threat but still has a physical presence. I honestly have no idea which line would score the most points, and I can't imagine anyone being able to match up against that lineup very well.

Who would you be comfortable putting your 4th line/ bottom d-pairing up against? Vanek-Connolly? Kennedy-Pominville? MacArthur/Stafford? Goose-Roy? Exactly. None of the above.

Actually, I like both of those line-ups.

I'm pulling a jlr and throwing my idea for the lineup here too:
Mac-Connolly-Pominville
Gaustad-Kennedy-Vanek
Hecht-Roy-Stafford
Kaleta-Ellis-Grier

Three scoring lines, all the lines have great defensive play, great momentum changing fourth line, etc, etc.

It's amazing the options that are opened up having another center. If Darcy would have gone shopping at any point in the last 2 or 3 years, he could have found one and maybe we wouldn't be sitting here having missed the playoffs for 2 straight seasons.

He's such a worthless sack.

I have to at these 3 and even 4 scoring line ideas.

We don't even have two effective scoring lines yet. But for some reason a few posters think we can actually build 3 or even 4 scoring lines.

Meh. It's not that I want to spread the talent out among three or four lines, it's just that with Ruff being reluctant to roll Vanek with Connolly and Vanek/Roy losing whatever semblence of chemistry that they had, the only way to do it is to either move Mac out of the top six, when he doesn't really deserve it, move Roy to a checking line, where you unnecessarily bump Gaustad, Grier or Hecht down a line or roll three "scoring" lines, where you give either Vanek or Roy a weaker matchup, give Kennedy a chance to get chemistry with Vanek, and keep together your ideal first line pairing of Connolly and Pominville.

/run on sentence.
