Would be a much smarter move then the Hollweg signing that is for sure. There are many in Montreal that would not mind him being back here.

I don't know, but the Phoenix board seems to think it is legit.

Montreal was stupid for not keeping him around.

I hope he lands somewhere.

I thought he said something about only wanting to sign with Montreal because he didn't want to keep moving around.

It doesn't exactly look like he has that option...

Lots of players come to retire here.

Still fighting it, I guess.

Some off season moves were smart, this wasn't.

Should have kept him. He played extremely well for the habs and was a great team guy and had Andrei going and Sergei was doing well as well.

I don't think Lang should touch that contract. If Bettman won't pay Gretzky he sure won't honor a Lang contract in fact nobody should play for Bettman ever, he can not be trusted. It's his character. Bettman's offer for the Yotes should not be allowed because he has already been rejected as a owner by the people of Canada.

Phoenix needs a larger veteran presence in the clubhouse so I think this is a good move for them.

This guy lives in Phoenix and has been tweeting the bankruptcy hearings. I trust that he saw Lang at practice. The rest is speculation.

Per Kevin Allen of USA Today on Twitter

Robert Lang's deal with the Phoenix #Coyotes is tentative, based on his ability to pass a physical.

Lang is a very good option as a centerman for Peter Mueller. Pete gets into good scoring position, has good timing, and has a fantastic shot. Creating his own offense, or offense for his linemates can be a problem, though. A guy like Lang, with good vision and good offensive instincts should really help Mueller get back on track, offensively. Given that Lang and Mueller aren't exactly hard nosed players, and maybe don't back check quite like they should, Phoenix should probably put their toughest, hardest checking workhorse on the line with them to pick up the slack. Shane Doan is a one man wrecking crew, and should really tie up any loose ends Mueller and Lang might have as far as hard work, defensive responsibility, and physical play.

Lombardi and Upshall are both tremmendously speedy players, and both had great chemistry to close out last season. Add the lighting fast, and equally two-way committed Boedker to that line and there could be some high flying potential, there.

Our Czech line of Prucha, Hanzal, and Vrbata has beeen kept together all camp, and have showed some great chemistry.

Doan-Lang-Mueller
Upshall-Lombardi-Boedker
Prucha-Hanzal-Vrbata
Korpikoski-Fiddler-Pyatt
Winnik

Jovanovski-Michalek
Aucoin-Suaer
Yandle-Vandermeer
Lepisto

Bryzgalov
LaBarbera

Not that bad for a team most experts are picking to finish dead last in the league.

I wouldn’t have had a problem with him back in Montreal, but I do honestly wonder if he can come back after that injury at his age. Anyway, good luck Lang, at least he didn’t sign with someone if the Habs division.

Seems like a good pickup. So does he center the 1st or 2nd line?

Ah, I see.

While most think under the new staff the yotes will have more consistent lines, I think it will take a while to find a place for Lang exactly. 2nd or 3rd line most likely, unless there is some weird unforeseeable chemistry between Lang and someone else.

Mueller. Someone has to get him the puck. Lombardi will be two miles ahead of him, every shift. A broken down old Lang is perfect for Pete. He can keep up, and the pass will come to the right place, at the right time. You know that's where Pete's going to be, too.

Yeah multiple sources around here have been saying this morning that he was suited up to practice but needed to pass a physical before anything else happened.

He only has to pass a physical to get the contract.
