Pittsburgh signs Martin Skoula

From Aaron Portzline's Twitter page

http://http://www.bluejacketsxtra.co...p_twitter.html

I'll update the link once it's on TSN or a more formal news source. Deal is said to be a 1 year deal, terms unknown

That didn't work out too bad for him now did it.

Get cut by Columbus and get signed by the Pens.

Crosby, Malkin, and Puck Poise. Bahahaha, we can't lose!

Better than Guenin as a 7th defenseman.

Is it possible that we now have the best 7th dman in the league?

Great signing by Shero.

At best 7th. No chance of being ahead Goligoski.

He'll be the 7th...and since we've had some injuries over the past two years it's nice to add this depth.

It's on his Twitter page because I'm sure he's following the Penguins, who posted it on Twitter. In other words, it's confirmed by them.

Well damn, just when you thought the Penguins couldn't get any better they go and send their puck poise off the charts. This is the stuff of dynasties people.

Yea well I don't follow the Penguins and just thought I'd post it since the thread didn't exist, but then this got merged because the OP posted at the same time as me .

Pretty irrelevant. Zero risk involved either.

Pens have 6 solid D-Men
Orpik Gonchar
Eaton Letang
McKee Goligoski

Shero clearly just wanted a 7th D-Man with some NHL experience. Something that Lovejoy & Guenin couldn't provide.

Brett Sopel, version 2.0.

Get cut by one team, and sign with another. Hopefully it wasn't for 2.5M this time.

I would have preferred a third round of Martin Straka, not Skoula. But, as a 7th, he could be OK. Clearly, the No. 7 candidates underwhelmed during the pre-season.

Lol can't believe he actually got signed. Barely an NHL player IMO, definitely a fringe player.

Couldn't be farther from the truth. In two of his three full years in Minnesota, Skoula was an excellent 4th/5th defensemen. I'm a little concerned that we let him go.

Barely an NHL'er for over a decade and over 700 games?

He's too slow to be a good NHLer now. He may have been good before, but not anymore. Backman lasted longer in our camp then he did.
