This is 1 player that I hope is wearing a Islander jersey come tommorrow. He is a upgrade over Hillen and FMVIIIIIIII. If need be the Isles can find a taker for Hillen or FMVIIIIIIIII they are both cheap and serviceable as a 6 or 7.

Are you serious about sending Meyer down?!?! If you dont remember from the Vancouver Hockeyville Game that Meyer is one of our top 4 defensemen...Why would we want to do that!!??!

We can still take Lashoff, correct? Or are we at the bottom of the wire now?

Order doesn't change. Isles have 1st priority on everyone waived.

each player is seperate. Worst to first based on last years final standings. Once the season starts it is again worst to first.

Then I don't see why not on Lashoff. One-way deal defensemen be damned, Lashoff seems like a better option right now on our bottom pairing than certain other smallish defensemen WHO WILL NOT BE NAMED, and he's younger than Meyer and has more experience than Hillen.

I guess I won't lose sleep if he passes through the cracks. But I think it would be a good idea.

Add Joey MacDonald in net, too.

He was just waived.

Oh, wait....

Yes to Lashoff. Big, mobile defenseman who put up good numbers in the AHL. Still young. Exactly what the doctor ordered. Schremp was picked up to fill the gaps with injuries to Weight and Nielsen. Lashoff would be a pick up who offers a real upgrade. We need a physical guy, and this kid has a mean streak. Played under Gordon when he had his best pro year. Turns 23 on the 29th. Schremp is a shot in the dark place holder, this could be a real gift to our rebuild.

Lashoff is different from Lukowich and MacDonald, to this poster. It's a different situation with the Islanders, because he would probably fit into our top 6 as is, and has potential to grow.

Usually, you would like this type of talent to develop at the A. But I think I'm too tempted by Lashoff's availability to let him go. I know I was killing the Isles for handing a spot to Schremp when he hadn't earned it, and I'm basically advocating they do the same for Lashoff. Hypocritical, yes. But the difference is that I think Lashoff has a chance to contribute for this team AND grow at the same time. I don't see either in Schremp.

He can't be worse than Meyer, Hillen, or Sutton

...because adding relatively young, possibly talented, big dmen to a team that finished in last place is a bad idea....

Lashoff won't fit in on our defense. He is too big.

Didn't think you were, but I wasn't sure. It perplexed me a bit, though, if you were. Although you could certainly make the case that Lashoff didn't "earn" his spot and would be given one in this case.

Bottom line is that Lashoff is more of a guy to take a chance on than Schremp. Which is why I think the Islanders will make the wrong decision and pass.
