Wow, the Monarchs are outshooting Providence 31-11 and the score is only 1-0 Manchester.

I wonder if there's the slightest chance of Hickey making it up here with the kings and replace Jones in the lineup.

Not a chance. If anything, Voynov and/or Martinez would be ahead of Hickey.

They may be ahead of Hickey at the moment but I don't know if they are a puck carrying dman that Hickey is. And that is what I believe TM wants and needs in order to replace Jones.

Bernier gets best goalie award in AHL. http://www.monarchshockey.com/fullstory.php?id=3666

Jason LaBarbera won it, too.

Manchester picked a good time to start getting hot. Great honor for Bernier. One of the youngest goalies to ever win it.

Berube in net tonight. The game is tied 2-2 in the second. Shots are 12 (Manchester), 7 (Portland).

Manch goals:

Both Portland goals in the 2nd.

Looks like this got lost in the news, but the Monarchs have signed Jordan Nolan to an amateur tryout:

Monarchs win again, Berube with another win, he's 2-0-0 now. I'm guessing Bernier will play the next 2 games, that's why Berube played tonight. Moller with a goal and an assist

The first goal tonight (Elkins, assisted by Holloway) was the prettiest, most perfectly executed score I've seen this year (and I am a season ticket holder for the Bruins, too). I wish it was on YouTube or the AHL web site for you all to see.

Holloway had the puck on the right side, skating down towards the goal. Moving into the top of the slot, looked like he was lining up a wrist shot. Saw Elkins barreling down the left side shadowed by a defender. Holloway just slid a pass perfectly in one motion to an open space several feet off the left post -- a lead pass. Elkins got a step (half a step) on his man reached out and whacked the puck past Lamoureux who could not get over in time.

Nothing acrobatic or crazy. Just picture-perfect, wham bang, and wicked. It took the Portland Pirates until the start of the second period to get over it.
