I think the Habs can do a little better than a guy who couldn't even crack the Devil's line up and his slary still counts against the cap, shows you how bad he must of been in camp.

His salary doesn't count against the cap. I believe the Old Fart rule only applies to the years proceeding the 1st year.

His salary only counts against the cap because he's still on the Devis roster. The +35 rule only counts for multi year deals.

we want Elias

Elias-Gomez-Gionta

Seriously

The only players Id like on the habs are Parise, Zajac, Lagenbrunner, Elias, Martin, Brodeur, Clarksson

and I dont think there available.

BTW

Latendresse Lapierre Clarksson would make a great 3rd line.

Clarksson for D'Agostini/SK + _________

So Sergei has apparentely given the Habs a 1 week ultimatum to be traded before going to Russia (AKA being banned from international competition) per RIS.

Ryan O'Marra for Sergei Kostitsyn

O'Marra is a former 1st rounder from 2005 and I remember he played great on a line with Tom Pyatt at the WJC.

Habs and Avalanche

Here is a proposal i thought of.

I know the habs just signed M-A Bergeron a couple of hours earlier, but i wanted to post this because i feel that i could have a lot of sens for these two teams.

To Habs :

J-M Liles
T.j Hensick
Chris Stewart

To Avs :

Andrei K
Sergei K
Yannick Weber

Habs get a power play Q.B to replace the injured Markov. Stewart ads a weighted prospect as the habs lack. T.J Hensick Vs Sergei K is a change of scenary for both players.

Andrei K gives Colorado an offensive wigner to aid Hejduk and Wolski in that department. Weber could probably replace Liles in long term as the Av's defece is aging quite a bit...

Stewart isn't a prospect to the Avs. He is a big part of their bottom 6.

Take him out and Colorado MIGHT think about it. Liles is one of their better players, they have a quite a few defensive prospects working towards the Avs lineup (Shattenkirk, Cohen, Gaunce).

They also haven't been known for having Russian players. Lately they seem to be sticking to North American players in the draft (OHL, NCAA, etc.)

I think if you also sent a late pick to Colorado the deal would happen... but who would replace A.Kostitsyn on the second line wing?

No from CO.

1. We don't want potential bad apples in the Kostitsyns. Nor more tiny guys.
2. Stewart is highly regarded by fans and the front office alike, and is a long term project just starting to pay dividends, with a crazy high ceiling.
3. Liles is well liked here as well, a great asset himself, and just entering his prime signed to a good deal. Why trade him for so little return?
4. Weber is a nice prospect, but of a type the Avs arguably already have too much of.

We're just not good trading partners, especially now that you have MAB. Sorry.

I see no reason for Colorado to do this.

Lets see what they get.

- A defensive prospect that falls down their depth chart.

- A forward that refuses to report to the AHL when sent down.

- A solid second line winger.

They give up

- One of their top defensemen (Liles and Quincey)

- A decent, not great, center prospect that became a victim of Colorado's depth a center

- A young power forward (if you think that is the right term for Stewart) that is highly regarded by the team and fans of the team.

I don't think Colorado even thinks about it. Also Colorado isn't very big with Russians.

The last Russian to play for the Avalanche is Andrei Nikolishin in the 2003 - 2004 season.

There is a reason why there isn't more Russians playing for the Avs, the team isn't very big on them. There has been a total of 6 Russians drafted by the Avs since the team moved to Denver. The most recent being Denis Parshin in 2004 (who recently resigned in the KHL).

I understand that the Kostitsyn's are from Belarus, but correct me if I am wrong please but didn't one of them play the KHL card before when they were displeased with something?

Nyi - Mtl

NYI

Comeau + Hunter + 2nd round pick.

MTL
Andrei and Sergei Kostitsyn

Montreal add some strength and scoring through their top 9. Too be honest I feel this whole thing with Sergei even though he went down to the AHL, I dont see him back in a Habs jersey. But I find Andrei has looked like crap so far. I am not jumping the gun, just he has been falling all over the place, taking too many bad shots with defenders in front of him dangling the puck either losing control or going offside.

I think this has got to both brothers. Maybe a change of scenery wouldn't be too bad. Helping Montreal with the trade demand while helping their need of size and extra scoring up front.

NYI can get schremp to play with sergei (london knights), and andrei could see top minutes with the islanders and maybe get into a groove and look like the old andrei.

I think both teams benefit.

Probably no one else agrees just like to see what ya's would think.

No thanks from an Isles POV. Not really interested in the brothers, and Comeau is going to be a big solid 2nd/3rd liner, that can play in all situations. Hunter is signed to a great contract, and is a locker room leader.

I said the last Russian, not Belarussian. Salei hasn't ever played the KHL card even after being a healthy scratch for Brett Clark .

Also the Avs have never drafted a player from Belarus since moving to Denver. Salei is also the only player born in Belarus that has played for the Avs since moving to Denver.

Stewart is untouchable.

Liles should be untouchable, but probably isn't. Regardless, you'll have to do better than the Kostitsyn sisters. The Avs have enough scoring players who don't back check well (cough, Svatos).
