Not surprised Niemi won the job. If Crawford is claimed, hope he gets his chance.

Crawford should get claimed by a team with insecurity in net. He deserves a shot. Honestly, from what I've heard about Niemi, he could take Huet's job by the end of the year.

Niemi outperformed Crawford. I had some concerns that we'd keep Crawford anyway since he goes on waivers while Niemi can just be sent down, but that wasn't the case.

Very surprised to see Crawford waived. I haven't seen him play recently but wasn't he highly thought of only a year or two ago?

Niemi's unorthodox style is scary to me.

He reminds me a little of Hasek in that way. Not really similar styles but rather unique styles.

I'm a little surprised here. I hope he gets claimed. He does have upside.

Im more suprised about the fact they waived Aaron who is great nro 6 D-Man.

Crawford, yeah im a little bit suprised that we waived him.
I dont believe theres hope he passes the waivers, but im suprised no one traded anything for him.

I would be shocked if it weren't for the terrible preseason showing Crawford had. Niemi earned the job. I'm disappointed about Johnson being waived but not the least bit surprised. I thought he was impressive as our 6th D-man last year before his injury. Looks like Sopel has that 6th spot and Hendry is the first call up.

Who needs a backup? If no one needs him in the NHL then he won't be claimed only to be waived again on his way to the AHL.

Niemi is signed for this season and is then a UFA. My best guess is that Crawford will work on his game getting 60 starts in Rockford this year and we will re-evaluate next summer.

I'd look at Atlanta. Crawford would be an upgrade from Hedberg, in my opinion, as backup. Legace (has he signed yet?) would start until Lehtonen is back.

I am disappointed!

Crawford worked his a$@ off for this organization over the years and was supposed to get his chance last season but the Huet signing set him back.

He outplayed Niemi last year in AHL and is the better option in my opinon for the #2 spot.

Johnson,,,,,,, Meh I would rather have Hendry

Legace was cut by Atlanta. He's no longer on the team.

Wait, there's someone missing here.

1 Keith
2 Seabrook
3 Campbell
4 Hjalmarsson
5 ????
6 Sopel

AHL - Hendry, Johnson

Ah, thanks. Man, they're going to be desperate with Pavlec crapping up the preseason, for god's sake.

Crawford seems like someone who deserves a shot to be a backup.

Honestly, I'd like the Wild to pick Crawford up, even though my logic is a little backward.

Backstrom
Harding
Dubi (in AHL)

I know the Wild have been trying to move Harding since the draft, with nobody meet their asking price. But if they picked up Crawford, they might be more comfortable with letting Harding go for a little less, and maybe swing a deal in the next few weeks. (while in the meanwhile keeping 3 goalies on the roster). Crawford would then be the back-up to Backstrom if he could handle it, and if he couldn't, he'd be moved to Houston with Dubi taking the back-up spot.

Three goalies on a roster might seem idiotic, but it wouldn't be a big deal if Fletcher could move Harding in the next 3 weeks - which might be possible if he has deals line-up from the summer.

There is no way the Hawks carry 8 defensemen and 3 goalies for very long. There's a move to be made here, just not right at this moment.

If Smolenak truly made our club that's good news to me. Would love to see a talented youngster that can grind it out over somebody like Colin Fraser on the roster.
