Don't mind him, as soon as someone puts on a Pens jersey, 90% of Pens fans have to give him every break and every benefit of the doubt regardless of whether he's any good or not.
Sorry, but I've been a C. Bourque fan since his draft year. So, I guess I fall under the other 10%, because I am still not a fan of Pascal Dupuis and he's on the Pens since late '07-08, was never a fan of Jarkko Ruutu but had to stomach that situation, and the list goes on. I'm not big on Brent Johnson right now, either.
But it's hard to find a downside to picking up C. Bourque at this point.
Are Satan or Sykora even in the league right now? TK is going to be on your 2nd line?
Malkin, Crosby, and Staal make alot of blemishes go away, but the Pens W depth has been weak for several years....goes to show perhaps how important it is to have it.....
I'm actually very excited about Kennedy. He could wind up being a 20-25-45 player if he gets enough time with Malkin. He's defensively responsible, and absolutely more skilled than Talbot. 5 on 5, he's the best winger on the team, maybe save Kunitz.
The wingers as a whole are kind of a revolving door. They're not great, not terrible, but as you eluded to, they don't have to be.
This Borque pickup actually excites me. No risk, and he keeps Godard out of the lineup when the Penguins play teams with bottom six talent.
As one Caps blogger just said: "Chris Bourque is Glen Metropolit with a dad in the HOF. Everyone needs to calm the hell down."
So, how many of your 17 posts have been shots at the Pens/fans? Nobody expects him to be Ovechkin. He's a solid pickup, especially for not having to trade any assets to get him. If nothing else, he's a great substitute for Godard when we don't need an enforcer in the lineup.
