I am sure he will drive us Ranger fans nuts. Good team player, great on the PK. Ranger fans will be comparing him to Boyle our new 4th line C all year

Excellent news. I was getting concerned that Holmgren might screw this up.

Not to be hopping on the bandwagon or anything, but this roster is pretty amazing.

No offense to Boyle, but why the hell did we let Betts go?

apparently no one else was offering him a contract but he's certainly worth more than $550k imo. Great deal

.

Marginal player.

Good on the PK

Not so good everywhere else.

The Bad: No offensive ability at all. Not physical, cannot maintain possession of the puck down low.

The Good: Smart positionally. Blocks shots. very capable of chipping the puck out of the zone. And as stated, a very very solid Penalty Killer.

for the stated amount of $550K, he's a good signing.

Anything more would have been a mistake.

I doubt that I would be comparing him to Boyle at all as I pesonally will not miss Blair Betts.

I may be alone on the Rangers board, but Betts, Sjostrom, Boyle are all dime a dozen type players.

If given 7-9 minutes a night, he won't hurt you. Anything more and it's a mistake.

Betts should be an ideal 4th line C for 550k

Congrats to Betts on finding a job. He certainly deserves one.

The Flyers are in no need of offense, They have enough of that. They need defensive minded players for the 4th line which Betts definitely brings.
He can win faceoffs if need be and can kill penalties.
Makes what was a good PK unit that much better with his solid positional play.
Dont think you should compare Boyle to Betts. They are differant players but both are 4th line players.
As far as missing Blair Betts, go ask the posters on the Kings board if they will miss Brian Boyle.
90 percent of the protypical 4th liners in the NHL are replacable.
A 4th line of Powe/Betts/Laperriere would be ideal.

He will Be on a line with 2 of the following Carcillo, Cote, Asham, Laparriere, I think they can handle the rough stuff.

Sjostrom and Boyle are closer to a nickle a dozen.

Thanks bro, you made me feel 10 times better about the signing and I liked it to begin with.

He's also very good at face-offs.

I was getting worried Holmgrem wouldn't sign him. Thank God he's here.

His face-off percentage has declined steadily since the lockout, and was under 50% last season.

But there's definitely a chance he can turn it around in Philly.
