I believe Tarik reported that the Pens were keeping him around as the 13th forward, which sucks for him b/c he would have at least played here for a couple of weeks.

in the few moments of Avs games i have caught so far Duchene has looked good. really quick on his skates and relentless

and yea "Shaky" Ray Emery looks calm, cool & collected in net... we'll see how he is in another 20 games, but for right now him & the Flyers look pretty formidable.

Matt Duchene is a very good player. That Duchene/Stastny combo is good now, and will be even better in a few years.

Matt Duchene is going to be a good one, for sure. Saw him strip the puck from a shark on the pk and then deke another through the legs on the goal line only to be poke checked by nabby in the first game. He has some skill for sure.

Eric Cole out 4-6 weeks for the Canes.

Tough first game for a bunch of teams.

Seems to me that Both Carolina and Montreal are already in trouble. Carolina looked bad losing to the Flyers and Bruins and took a serious injury. Montreal has taken two brutal injuries that they just can't afford.

Carolina could have a real quick trigger on the coach if they don't bounce back quickly.
If Tampa Bay beats them solidly tomorrow night, something might already happen there.

Good god anaheim.

I wonder if they have a defense thread?

Go kings! SJ not waiting for playoffs to choke. Going ugly early.

s. kronwall had a good game for calgary. not that there was room for him, but i was sad to see that guy go. liked what i saw of his game in a very small sample.

There was plenty of room for him...if they hadn't resigned Sloan or Collins.

But I regress....

watched Kings / Sharks last night... few thoughts:
  • San Jose's PP was lethal (4 goals last night)
  • the Kings are a fun team to watch, and not just their top line
  • love Drew Doughty's game
  • Heater looks weird in teal

I didn't see any of the game, but not a bad way to register your first NHL goal, a GWG; although it did take the hat trick away from Nystrom....link

Question:
Just saw the replay of the Alfie penalty shot in the Toronto/Ottawa game.

Since a penalty shot has to be taken by the player the penalty happened to or if that player is injured than anyone who was on the ice, what stops a player from faking an injury to have a better player take the shot? I believe the ref just assesses the situation at the time, so shouldn't there be some sort of punishment to deter the player from doing so? Just curious.
