Team 990 just said Markov is in the hospital in Toronto, and did not make the trip to Buffalo as of now.

To me it looked like Markov Hyperextended his knee.

Did you seriously expect otherwise?

He didn't return in the third and was clearly pretty hurt. I'm not being negative, but I believe the best potential outcome for us is we have him back for our first home game.

Looking at the replay it didn't look like Price's skate made contact with Markov. To me it looks like his stick may have caught the top of his foot. Either that, or he hyperextended his leg in the contact, possible knee injury.

Buffalo is like two minutes away.

It may be precautionary, or to get stitches or xrays.

Best case scenario - It is a cut that required stitches and a precautionary examination and Markov will only miss a few games.

Maybe S. Kosty can take his place on the blueline. I hear he's that good!

My first thought was a cut achilles tendon like what happened to Lang last year. If that's the case, the Habs need to get another top pairing defensman to take is spot.

Hopefully, he'll be fine and back in no time, fingers crossed.

Take a look at the clip with 34 seconds left in the video.

I see Price's stick going hard to the back of the leg and I see Price's skate catching the top of Marko's foot.

Nothing around the achilles tendon

It doesn't look like a hyper-extended left knee where Price's stick makes contact. It def doesn't look like Price's skate got him.

On a leg swing-back, Price's skate slashes Markov on the top of the foot, perhaps lower than the ankle. Price's leg was extended, and if you watch the video you will see his legs swung back with a decent amount of force. Hopefully it is just a nasty cut with no hardcore damage done.

I really don't think the achilles tendon is touched, I think he needs big time stitches though and might miss a few games but not many more.

Toronto fan coming in peace, and I hope Markov is okay, but there are tendons other than the Achilles. There's one that runs on the inside of the leg on the front that could be wear he was cut, from the image someone posted above. Don't mean to sound the panic alarm, but I think people are just focusing too much on what happened to Lang last year.

I doubt he cut a tendon just by the way he reacted.

They will be cautious with him at this point in the season... hopefully he'll be ready for the home opener

you would think will all the money in the nhl someone could design a fabric to stop skates cutting ankles /legs.... or a shin pad with a fabric on the back of the leg

I was thinking that too but it doesn't seem like it could be that from the way he reacted.

My guess is a cut at the bottom of his leg. Right under the skate flap as it was open because of Markov's leg position.

I'd imagine an injury like that would only require stitches and the timeframe for his comeback would depend on how deep the cut is.

I'm somewhat glad I got to see this picture but it could still be bad.

The only area that was caught by the skatev was the top of the boot and that stick begind the knee.

Chris Pronger wears pads that flap down and hang over the front of his skate for this very reason - to help against skate blades and slashing.
