Sigh... let's wait on the severity but it didn't take long for the season to go to pot didn't it? If Markov misses any significant time, just making the playoffs probably becomes the ceiling.

I don't think it necessarily means that. It's possible they cut the kid first knowing that they want him to have a full year on the farm (and not to lead him on with wild fantasies about making the club), but if it's to fill a whole for a limited time maybe he's a legit choice. Though guys like Weber & Carle who sense that they are ahead on the depth chart might feel burned by it.

It would suck to lose Markov for an extended period of time, but sometimes it takes something like this for everybody on the ice to push a little harder to make up for it. I'm not saying we'll be better without him, but a true team should sound the rallying cry right about now

And I also recall the season without Saku - we had a lot of guts that year. It's going to be an uphill climb, but sometimes that brings you closer together than anything else could.

I'd be surprised if this turned out to be more than a day-to-day type of situation.

Markov's injury looks more serious now. He didn't travel on the bus with the team to Buffalo and stayed the night in a Toronto hospital.

Let's not overreact yet...it's obvious that he got cut so he is obviously going to miss some time either way. Let's just hope it's a matter of weeks rather than months.

You said it, it's not beer league. Let's wait and see before panicking. There's nothing official as of now. The report itself looks like speculation more than anything else IMO.

Hey, let me try one:

"Metropolit might have banged a stripper on his way back to the hotel tonight."

See? I'm not stating anything as a fact.
No offense, but this is almost like a mirror image of how Bruin's fans had denial of Kessel going to Toronto when the media kept saying it. "Kessel appears to be going to Toronto".. they'd say, "he's not going to Toronto, he's going to Nashville. Just because it says 'appears' it means nothing".

With that said, the chances of a cut foot leading to a severed tendon aren't exactly great, when looking at the footage. I just can't see what happened, and I don't think this is 4-6 weeks serious.

That much was confirmed almost immediately after the game.

As somebody else said, it's not like Toronto and Buffalo are worlds apart...so I wouldn't read a whole lot into it. But it definitely looks like he's going to miss at least some time.

Well if he was seriously cut by a skate blade I don't thing he could be bandage and send on a bus to Buffalo right away. I expect him to miss tomorrow game, but I'm optimist that he will be ready for tuesday's game.

I need to know like right now how long Markov is going to be out for. It's driving me nuts thinking about worst case scenarios. Can't believe we have to deal with this **** on the first day.

In other news if Markov is injured for an extended period of time the Spacek signing now becomes easily the most important transaction of the offseason.

Get the injuries over with early in the season, last year we got hit with injuries when the games mattered the most. If the Habs are lucky, Markov will be out for a week or 2. Hopefully it's nothing too serious we definitely need Markov this season

If Markov is gone this early in the season it's gonna be a good test for the kids who wanna play next year, basically someone is going to try and secure themselves a starting position for next year. Go Webs.

From CKAC. Stayed in the hospital all night. It's probably really serious. We'll know more in a few seconds with Martin McGuire.

Sometimes losing a top player like that can be good for the team, because the other players step up and play better. Right now it's up for the players to make something good come out of a bad situation

I couldn't be excited at all about the win last night after seeing Markov leave the ice like that. I hope he isn't out long, wish some more information would could out.

Guess we'll be seeing Yannick Weber.

Wow, I can't believe this, I surely hope it's not as serious as they say.

What a **** bad luck... losing our MVP right off the beginning.

Let's hope Hammer can play tomorow, at least. ****ing freak stupid accident.
