Sure they were popular but they also sucked. Which is kinda important. I dont think we should be angry that Torts "ran" a 3rd line grinder, a 4th line defensive center and a 6th defenseman out of town.

Stop complaining just to complain. Its old and tired.
Torts ran
Mara
Betts
Prucha
Orr
Freddy the shoe
and I am sure I am missing one more out thats not just a 6th defensemen and guy who sucks. Next I complain because i didn't like him if you don't like me don't read it or comment on it move on.

And people still hated Jagr as captain until he was gone. There is absolutely nothing here. People want there to be so Drury requests a trade out of here, but that is a pipedream based on these 'facts'.

These are guys you are really going to miss?

Seriously?

Marginal players top to bottom.

Hey, if that's the kind of player you like and root for... to each his own I guess, but to me, marginal players like those named above can come and go.

Yeah, absolutely none of that had to do with an underachieving offense. Every one of those guys was upgraded in the offseason.

And I bet if we kept Mara you would be attacking Tortorella for not keeping Gilroy or MDZ and never giving youth a chance.

Hey, does that new rule about not reading or commenting on your stuff apply to me too? What are the new disciplinary actions for future violations?

These are all marginal players, most of whom are extremely overrated by Rangers' fans.

And I can't really see how Torts ran Prucha out of town. It seems like Sather was deadset on trading him considering he only played a handful of games for Torts. Renney was far more instrumental in Prucha's downfall than Torts.

Keenan was the one required to coach the players that Neil Smith acquired.

Neil Smith was NOT required to get the players Keenan wanted.

Neil Smith believed in the deal that sent Amonte and Gartner packing or he would not have made those moves.

Any sane GM would have refused to part with Leetch for Chelios. And I'm sure that Neil Smith didn't entertain the thought of that deal longer than it took for Keenan to explain it.

What deals did the head coach broker?

Please. If you think Smith went out and made trades like Amonte for Noonan and Matteau on his own without orders from Keenan than you are out of your mind.

Also, that deal is more absurd than trading Leetch for Chelios.

So you view those players as major losses, and identity's of this team? Those players had/have no bearing on this team. They are dime a dozen players in the NHL. I understand you don't like Tortorella, but to insinuate that losing those players will have any adverse effect on this team is laughable at best, imo.

Ditto...

Really isnt all that important in my eyes.

Not that its a comparable... but my entire college team LOATHED the coach. We still went out and won a championship. We did it for eachother, regardless of if we liked him or not.

How much is "ran them out of town" and how much is "I want the team to go in a different direction, so we need to turnover the roster and get some different types of players in here"

I mean, you can't change the team without ditching some current players.

To be honest I find the Rangers watching that ceremony disgusting, distracting, and potentially intimidating. They should not be watching it, why would they even want to? The Penguins and their fans don't give a crap if the Rangers watch or not. Everyone knows the won. It's a new season, let's move forward.

I like how if players aren't resigned or traded they're "ran out of town."

Ever think maybe the team is just going in a new direction?

Drury is no captain. Seriously, could any of you picture him holding the Stanley Cup over his head like Messier, after leading the Rangers to the finals?

I'd imagine it looks an awful lot like when he lifted the cup in Colorado. Watch that video, picture a different jersey color... yep, pretty easy.

That haters post right there says it all. So many fans think Messier when they think Captain and its just so wrong. Like they grow on trees, silliness.

You're right, we shouldnt bother naming one again until we're sure he'll one day be known as on of the greatest leaders in sports history. If they dont compare to guys like Messier or Yzerman we probably shouldnt even play the season right?
