Should we be surprised with this considering the amount of changes or is it just whats to come?

Also, Montreal never seems to play well versus Buffalo especially in Buffalo. Don't really know why that is.
its only the 2nd game, give it a chance.

Yeeeeesh. Not a lot of positives so far...

Plekanec
Metropolit
Laraque

are the only ones who I would say played a good to very good period.

O'Byrne/Gorges played pretty well, O'Byrne was a little overzealous and took an unnecesary penalty and Gorges had one pretty bad giveaway, but other than that they've been pretty good.

One very big positive though is that has anyone else noticed how quick players are to defend each other in scrums and to make sure people don't hang around Price too much after the whistle? Looks like there's a good amount of "team toughness" which I am loving.

Newsflash: You can't stay passive and wait for the opponent to take a decision. Be active. Don't let them breath, it'll lead them to make mistakes.

As soon as we're out of our zone, everything is all right. We're just getting trapped in our own zone too long.
Exactly.
Forwards don't skate at all in the D zone.
This is quite sad to see.
So far the transition game is worse than last year because we never get out of the D zone with speed.

Gill uses his reach well & blocks a lot of shots. He's been all right. Gorges is not impressing me right now.

we are still learning the new system..we need to give this team time to build chemistry..you can tell in the defensive zone, especially the d-men, they dont know each others tendencies so lots of passes are missed.

That's an easy one to answer: It's because Buffalo is the closest place for me to go see the Habs live and god hates me.

He's played real bad so far, real bad in the defensive zone, he better start making it up by scoring but I am happy we stayed away from him even though 2/3 of the posters here thought we should go after him.

If we play like this vs the Pens or Caps we will get absolutely murdered...

On the positive note the 4th line is playing great.

The Pens v Isles looks like a GREAT game
the New York fans are very loud and the play is a lot of fun to watch

Relax. This team has yet to get going and the players have to gel together. We're not going to see what this team is really made of before the 20 games mark.

However, there are definately adjustments to bring on the system pattern, especially in the defensive zone. Along the boards, we have to be more agressive.

I wish Lapierre understood he's not a finesse player. Because he looks like the thinks he is so far.

Seriously.

Some people need to realize how massive the changes to our organization have been. We won't magically be a great team immediatly. That's why we signed these guys to multiple years.

1 player adapting is one thing. 10+ new guys with a new coach is something else.

But I will stay a fan of Steve, that won't change....unless he starts acting like Komisarek (which I doubt).

Exactly.

Our break out play did not work well vs the Leafs and it is not working well this game either. We need to change our system to break out of our own zone.

How many quality shots do we have so far? One by Gorges on the PP is about all.

Not looking good so far. Hope we pick it up in the 2nd and 3rd periods.

Don Cherry was off to a great start this season. He was bang on w/ Price deserving of the first star, and was really bang on with the NHLPA stuff. I'm kind of scared.
