Is Daniel Briere available?

8yr/52m contract, do you guys think hes worth the dough? IMO, hes not the same player that he was in Buffalo. Hes on your guys 3rd line right now, is he on the chop block? How much longer do you see Holmgren holding onto him before unloading his fat contract?

He is actually technically on our 1st line... We dont have a line 3. We have a 1a 1b 1c, and alot of us have come to accept him and actually need what he brings atm.

Hartnell-Carter-Briere is our 3rd line? Damn, this team is better then I thought.

I would go 1a, 1b, and 2. I think Powe bings the third line down.

The short answer to his availability: no.

By some accounts, he is in his best physical condition in recent years. There is no need to alter the team's chemistry at this stage, especially a move of that magnitude. Holmgren has the pieces he wants at this stage.

i expect briere to be available next offseason but untill then hes a valuable piece of the cup run. at that time i expect hell be coming off an 80+ point year plus playoffs and only due 26 mil on a 5 year deal. they made the moves to fit briere this year and the opportunity to get him at a discount has passed. were looking at full value for a valuable player

....ok... As the season goes on I bet we will be calling them a 1c.

Like I was saying though, we really dont have line numbers and Briere is technically on our first line.

powe brings a lot to that line. he is very fast and still developing. i agree that he isn't at the same skill level as jvr and giroux, but him playing with them elevates his level of play, which already isn't too shabby. and also briere is a key piece of this team and is in no way available at this time.

Nope, not interested in moving him. And as mentioned before, he's on our first line.

flyers need briere. and briere's trade value isn't so hot (well, considering what gomez got, maybe not). flyers need top forwards, and that is exactly what briere is.

In addition to all of the comments above, which make it clear that Briere looks to be back to form and on the top line, HE HAS A NO MOVEMENT CLAUSE! He is not going anywhere.

I see so many of these types of threads. Let me make this clear, JVR, Giroux, Richards, Carter, Briere, Hartnell, Coburn, Pronger, Timmonen and Gagne are untouchable right now. So please stop asking if the Flyers would be willing to trade Carter for TOR's 4th round pick in 2012.

FWIW, it's Carter and 1st for Kaberle.

Yo, Dude, you appear to be kicking the tires on a car you want to try and talk down with the car salesman.

Even if we bought your spiel -- and we do not -- our GM may not buy it... and Danny has a No Move Contact, and is happily looking for a Cup and parade down Broad Street. Seriously, Dude, Danny looks to be a big part of the Flyers... and is a money player who will be even more important come the postseason.

Why don't you move up the road and kick the tire of the Rag's Drury?

Well no we have 1a 1b and 2. JVR-Giroux-Powe is not a first line.

And Briere probably wont be traded until at least when Carter's deal is up

In another matter, Briere has been added to the group (now five) who will share alternate captain duties. Pronger, Timonen, Carter and/or Gagne are the others.
