10-3-09 Canucks at Avalanche 1 PM MT

Besides the exciting return of Howler...(and I mean, really, who isn't looking forward to that?) There is a game today.

Some interesting facts:
Wolski has a 100% shooting percentage currently (2 goals on 2 shots)

Canuck injury news from the Denver Post:
Quote:
Veteran defenseman Mathieu Schneider (shoulder surgery) is out indefinitely, and forwards Pavol Demitra (shoulder) and Jannik Hansen (hand) missed the opener and are day to day.
Craig Anderson will be in goal for the Avs

And some possible good news on David Jones and his "indefinite injury:"
Quote:
Forward David Jones (bruised chest) briefly practiced Friday but remains unavailable

As usual when the Canucks come to Pepsi Center, I expect a big night from Hejduk and Svatos. Hopefully Duchene can get in on some of that Canuck killing as well. Also, Galiardi seems to do ok against them...

I remember Demitra used to kill the Avs... Happy he's not gonna play

If i remember correctly. Demitra used to kill the Avs when he played for L.A. not so much the Wild or Canucks

Is Salei playing? Dater briefly mentioned that he could be traded, but I somehow doubt that. I'm going to try to catch one of the online streams tonight.

Chia, it is not going to be Howler but a cute little St. Bernard puppy! (You know to kinda grow up with and protect this young team.)

According to DP, O'Reilly might be a healthy scratch for Hensick.

What?! Oh my god, that's bull.

Anyways, Howler isn't going to be re-released, it'll be something new. Which I think is just...unbelievably stupid.

Still got to wonder why they didn't just send O'Reilly back to juniors if he's on the bubble to be scratched every game. Is he still on the roster due to depth issues? Regardless, he should be a lock to be sent down to juniors after the nine games.

BTW is the nine game rule nine scheduled games or played games (in other words if O'Reilly is scratched does he get to play an extra game or does the decision need to be made after the Avs ninth game)?

I'd much rather see either O'Reilly or Hensick play over Koci, though he did have that one moment in the SJ game where he fulfilled "his role" in the scrap with Shelley. McLeod and Stewart can muck it up if it's needed.

Since he hasn't yet been scratched (at least I haven't seen anything official) we should probably reserve judgment. If this is just a taste for him then sitting for game time still allows him to be around the team for practice and game prep which gives an idea what he will need in the future. I wouldn't want to see much of it but sitting a game and then playing a couple more before going down can still be of value.

Not really.

I believe O'Reilly was a bubble guy making the roster in the first place. And, if he's only good enough to get 10 minutes per night on the 4th line, I'd rather they sent O'Reilly down and played Hensick this season.

Maybe the Avs simply want to taste the wine, before pouring the whole bottle.

I'm really liking the PK. No more sitting back. They are attacking, getting the puck out quickly, and they are on guys down low. Nice!
