Howard

I've said this at least 10x. Howard is not the answer! He's not a good goalie.

If we have figured everything out in just two games...why play the rest of the season?

The new mascot of the Red Wings...

C'mon shoalzie, drop the sarcasm. I think he wants to have a discussion about this and I think it is a legitimate one.

ps although I may not agree with yooper's idea word for word

One start this season and he wants to get rid of him? I'm sorry but we're not dealing with rational thinking. Give these guys some time...and hell, let them play some games in North America before we start handing out pink slips. This team wins so much that they're not allowed a slip up. Our fans are too spoiled. You can blame it on success but you have to be realistic too.

I said last year, in the off season and in the pre-season that guy is not a good goalie. This is not based on todays game, but it HIGHLIGHTS why.

Excellent point...

Hell, look at the Avs at 2-0 with wins over the Sharks and Canucks. It's not like they're planning a parade already in Denver...at least I hope they aren't.

At any point in a season, losing back-to-back games and giving up 9 goals will raise eyebrows. When you start a season this way, it triggers a lot of extra nerves because you haven't seen this team win yet. Starting a season winless brings out widespread panic because there just hasn't been a positive moment in the season. Win a few games and hopefully everyone can calm down a tad.

It's the same thing, let the Wings continue being bad defensively, only this year they can't make up for it.

Howard is bad. Osgood is bad.

I really hope the Wings play horribly so people begin to understand what is wrong wit this team. Luckily it can be fixed next year.

The Wings are showing more vulnerability than last year...I'll acknowledge that. You also have to remember that this team, unlike many in this league, can perform under the bright lights. I just find this instant flinching by the fan base to be humorous because it's just two games.

Let's watch it play out over a few months and then we can make broad observations after playing one team for two games in a foreign country. When we get a larger sample size, we'll know what this team truly is. If we just go by two games...well, they're going to go 0-82. We act like we've never seen this team lose before.

Cloutier > Howard..

I agree though.. 1 game doesn't say much..

Give him time.. Maybe he will prove that he is better than Cloutier someday, and a worthy backup.. Who knows!!

He's very ordinary. He's the worst of our 3 goalie prospects.

This franchise has done a great job drafting and developing players. Goalies are a different story though, as their mistakes are more prevalent. At some point, faith and trust need to overcome and you give them a shot. Understandably, when they get lit up for 5 goals, your faith and trust are tested. But after 6 years since being drafted, 9 career NHL games, and 1 start into the season, doesn't it seem a tad premature to write him off?

At least he doesn't give 3 goals in 3 minutes like Osgood.

He does it in 5.

If they lose the next few games by giving away 4-5 goals like yesterday and friday, I'm really expecting an "all aboard the failboat" season.

Sheesh- fairweather fans much??

I know that not everyone thinks he is the answer, but at some point he has to sink or swim. However, don't drown him in ONE game. He had several quality preseason starts.

Everyone take a DEEP breath and just give them some time. This team is in transition, and the rest of the league is catching up. We just aren't used to being "slightly above average".

Like I told Shoalzie yesterday, I don't really think the Wings are taking these two games as seriously as they perhaps deserve- subconsciously I mean.. They are playing two games in Europe, in several players home country, and then they come home and don't play for five days. To me, it doesn't even feel like the real season. Let's wait and see what happens in Detroit.

After Osgood's TERRIFIC season last year, there's nothing to worry about.

2 games, and already the fires are burning...burn him, burn him!!!

What is with Detroit, and the ability to tear down goalies?

One game for Ozzie this year, one game for Howard. Neither one did well, but it's 2 games out of 82 (2/82 = less than 2.5%).

If the team is playing like come December, yeah, it would be a problem, but right now, meh.

Let's at least get to the quarter mark, or 20 games. I think it was 14 games in last year when my work was lifted by the local media about the goal differential (and it not being all Lebda's fault-- ALL of it).

These are probably the same people who wanted Manny Fernendez or another goalie at the deadline because "Osgood was not capable of doing it again due to his poor regular season."

How tall are Howard and Osgood....like 5.8?

They don't seem to fill the goal as well as most other goalies. These bigger goalies can have an off night and still get by due to the pucks simply hitting them cause of their size.

We should sign Bob Sapp.

Personally I was more concerned with the defense.
