That's very close to being a terrible contract. He's not worth $3M per year, IMO, and that's a lot of years to be giving him too much.

Someone called him underrated earlier in the thread, but if anything he's been overrated by his high draft position and the fact that Columbus has been a bad team for so long. He's just not that good.

Oh, c'mon; anyone sensible stopped thinking about Klesla's draft position (and the accompanying hype) years ago. He's never going to be anywhere close to what MacLean swore he'd be. He is what he is - a serviceable #3-4 defenseman with an extra gear. $3M/year seems to be much better than the going rate for folks like that of late.

Frankly, given how unbelievably ****ty MacLean's draft record was for the first five years, getting any NHL players at all from that era is pretty much a bonus as is, let alone getting fair value for a pick.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

Wait a bit. The guy just scored his 2nd goal and on the pace to be 82 goals scorer this year.

I won't blame you because I'm pretty sure you didn't see Rusty at the end of last season, during the playoffs, and so far this year. But you're wrong.

Damn, these jackets just have too bright a future. I wish the oilers took Voracek.

Anyone else concerned that Klesla is currently #5 in the league in goals? It won't last but let's just say he's on pace to score 82 goals this year

IMO he would have gotten more on the open market. Good deal for the Jackets.

klesla sounds so much like volchenkov 2-3 years ago its eerie. He should start getting similar recognition around the league soon.

In defense of the Columbus management; inaugural BJs usually aren't that good.
