Yeah they don't play again until this weekend. It could be a possibility. They aren't going to just give up on Wiikman without giving him a chance to lose his spot.
It would be nice to see him get away from the injury bug. Especially since Zaba has done a 360 from last season (so far anyway).
I don't believe that its likely that Wiikman will be back up for at least a few weeks and maybe much longer. His spot was won by Johnson, and they will give both Zaba and Johnson several chances before they send either of them down. Wiikman will have to do well in Charlotte to come back.
They should definitely sign him. A kit of kids his age don't have their screwed on right, but he's got talent and we should see what happens after couple of years around adults in the AHL.
Given his troubles, he'll sign any contract Slats offers him, so it will be a good gamble.
I disagree. He would be on a 2-way contract, so he'd be making peanuts in the AHL regardless, especially coming in as a 5th round pick. The behavior problems might just mean a couple less peanuts.
More important is the fact that there is a limit of 50 NHL contracts and I believe we are at 49 right now. Next year, Kundratek will be in the AHL so he'll count against the limit. We may see McDonagh, Stepan and Hagelin all leave school next year and sign NHL contracts.
Of course, some contracts will come off the books, but I doubt the Rangers will waste a contract on Doyle at this point.

Is there a place where I can take a look at who is signed to NHL contracts?
Man, that 3-year Pissmiller deal just keeps on giving. Did Sather offer him a one year contract and got rejected with a demand for more years? Did Sather then panic that he may not get Rissmiller and upped it to 3 years?
Hopefully Voros plays well and can be dealt to a contender looking for more depth for a mid-round pick. That would free up some salary and give us fewer NHL contracts. The 4th line spot would be filled by Lisin, Byers or Weise.

Sather was the one in control--he didn't panic, he made a mistake. There was no one else willing to sign Rissmiller to the size or length of the contract Sather gave him.

I think this is the list. Kundratek and Klassen don't count though since they are playing in juniors. So it's actually 47 contracts right now, but both players will be in Hartford next year and count against the limit.

If and when we sign a 7th dman, that will be 48, but I would expect that to only be a 1 year deal.
I think CapGeek's got Anisimov's contract date wrong. He signed his 3-year entry level deal during the summer of 2007 and played 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 in Hartford. It's up at the end of this season.

The Kundratek and Klassen contracts count. Overagers count against the limit.

Damnit I really wanted to see Grachev play Saturday night. I hope I get to see him sometime.
My guess is that he'll be back in Hartford for the game tomorrow. Rangers don't play again until Sunday. No point having Grachev sit around in NY when he could be playing in Hartford.
Zaborsky won't report to Charlotte and is looking for an opportunity in Europe, per Howlings:
Quote:
He told me that he is not going to report to Charlotte. He REALLY wanted to be in Hartford this season and fel that he had a strong enough training camp to have made the team. From what we saw he looked real solid, but we don't make those decisions and respect the people who do. In any event, Tommy said that he really didn't like it down there. He's in Michigan right now and he and his agent are looking at opportunities for him to go back to Europe. He told me that he would let me know when he gets something.
