He bailed us out on Conroy, and to make that one dumb mistake, just blows his whole game... I've never been so disappointed in him. O'Sullivan had that chance to seal it too... We looked way better than anytime last season. This is the year, but it's just the first game, if you'd like to look at the positives.

terrible loss for you Oilers fans tonight, but on a side note, I thought Brule played well, any chance he can turn into some kind of Mike Peca?

Geez, I guess we turn on guys pretty quick. Khabibulin did make some big saves in the third. It's too bad it ended that way, but the Oilers were clearly the better team tonight.

Terrible, brutal ending. But holy hell boys, calm down. 1 game out of 82 and they positively outplayed the Flames most of the night. Plenty of reasons to be encouraged so put the razor blades away.

Disappointing loss but WOW, did these guys impress me tonight.

Suddenly there is a reason for some hope this season.

Highlights...Penner, Gags, all the kids played great.

Lowlights...Staios, Hemsky and the rest of the vets.

Yep you got to go to the hardspots of the ice to get chances like that

If POS keeps doing that they will start going in

We just pretty much just physically dominated the flames. I see no negative in that game at all. That was better effort and intensity than we had all of last season. We just watched our team outplay the opposition and lose, rather than watching us win by some miracle and have a million question marks following the game.

On a lighter note, Cogs looked a little tired, but I guess that is to be expected from all that dangling from belts he did in the opening entertainment. I wonder if that giant oilers logo on his back rubbed off on his shoulder pads. That was cogs, right?

Can't wait for a heaping helping of revenge on the 8th.

Overall I thought the team did exceptional. Specifically they need to work on special teams, defensive coverage to prevent major gaffes (might require the blender to mix up the pairings).

Oh, and Moreau and Staios can't play that badly,

No doubt, Khabibulin knew what he did wrong, you guys saw his frustration afterwards, he still has his passion. It's only the first game, and even if it hurts, I'm sure that we're all positive that this season will be better than the last one
