I, for one, would like to thank you for changing your avatar. Your previous one actually caused me to be nauseous.

Back at you.

You seemed to have overlooked the irony (or even sarcasm) inherent in the post.

Perhaps the giveaway would have been the altering of Henrik's name to "Hank Sedinov"?

He was just a funnin' the original poster who seemed to think that Sedin and Shirokov spoke the same language.

Yes, clueless would seem to cover it nicely.

You must not be familiar with sarcasm.

Okay, but consider for a moment that the second line of Burrows Kesler Samuelsson will likely increase offense from what it is now and decrease the amount of chances given up. I don't see that the Sedins will be much less effective with Shirokov on their wing in the short run. IMO, those two lines give you more offensive ability between the two while decreasing the number of chances you give up. I can see the argument that you lose more offense than you gain, but its not quite so clear cut as you make it out to be. Shirokov may be able to bury a few of the chances that Burrows has been missing. He hasn't really shown much to this point, but isn't it at least worth a shot to see if the kid can be effective in the short run? I know they are playing well together, the Sedins and Burrows, but IMHO, its a net benefit to the team to make the switch. Maybe Shirokov can't produce at all, but at this point, he hasn't really had a chance.

By the way, my Centerman would not include Johnson, when Demitra is healthy I would go:

Sedin
Demitra
Wellwood
Rypien

Maybe small down the middle, but whats better, playing Kesler in the middle where he has been ineffective or put him on the wing. In any case, he is on the ice and I would argue that being on the wing allows you to be more of a physical presence. I would love to have big centerman from 1 through 4, but that's not the personnel this team has.

Loungo.

Questions on his character, his ability, and his motivation because he hasn't played well. Amazing and pathetic. Many of you saying how selfish he is, forget the last game of the playoffs last year where he was in tears(yes shows he doesn't care) The internet armchair GM's are out in full.

When he starts playing well again you will be all saying how great he is...

Sad thing is he is only human and mistakes happen. Christ our D is very unpredictable, who knows what they will do in a game?
Hey, he let in 3 softies last night and blamed his D for it. I find that inexcusable, both for his on-ice performance, and for his treatment of his teammates.

He took the blame for it...you read what you wanted to read from the qoutes. He explained what he did.

Exactly, you fail at reading comprehension. He said he sucked and so did some elements of the team. He is the captain so he can say this stuff, no? Imagine we now have a captain with a backbone again and its an issue. No one is ever happy.

It's amazing how dominant a line they are.

D. Sedin - H. Sedin - Burrows
Shirokov - Wellwood - Bernier
Raymond - Kesler - Samuelsson
Glass - Johnson - Rypien

Mitchell - Edler
Salo - Ehrhoff
Rome - Bieksa

Luongo
Raycroft

^^ This is the lineup I'd like to see tried out.
Yeah lets take out the one guy from the 4th line that brought anything last night. While Rypien, Johnson, and Shirokov were planted on the bench Hordichuk was getting 10 hits and making stuff happen the best he can.

That would send the WORST message to the team that you could ever send.

He said he sucked because of what the team in front of him was doing. That is a LOT different than simply saying "Wow, I really sucked tonight."

"It's pretty tough when you get a backdoor tap-in when you're concentrating on the shot, and then on the next one I'm not concentrating fully on the shooter," said Luongo, who told it exactly as it was just as a captain should.
He said he got thrown off his game. He blamed himself.

Ornskoldsvik is in Switzerland, the land of IKEA and Volvo, not Russia, stupid-head.

The question is, why did he not concentrate fully on the shooter?

Heh, you know the answer to that...we all do. Our defence should have the pass covered....however.

On the 1st goal, yes. But on the others?

Sorry, but when I read that quote, I can't help but get the implication that he lost confidence on his D, at least for that game.

Luongo is right... But he played ****** too, 4 goals in 4 shots is not acceptable even if you play for the New York Islanders.

Could be the weakest middle position in the league.
Better than:
Sedin
_____
Wellwood
Johnson

like we have now. Demitra is an upgrade in that role at the moment. But you know I agree we need a second line center like nobody's business.

Blames his team and himself.

In the end, the goalie, especially a star goalie, is supposed to bailout his team anyway. And with the exception of the first goal last night, the defence wasn't the issue.

Didn't want to make another thread, but here's a scary thought:

If Luongo doesn't earn the starter spot on Team Canada, that's effectively two weeks off for Luongo. Meaning, another warmup month or whatever.
