This is an excellent move IMO.

Before OByrne went down I was all for having Weber up and making no other changes...but since Sat. we were in desperate need.

If Hamrlik can pick up his play 5on5 then I think we will not suffer too much due to the loss of Markov.

Yeah that's generally the going rate for the best defensemen in the league.

I don't like Bergeron but it's hard to argue with 750k...as low risk as it gets, really. I didn't like the Schneider trade either and that turned out OK so we'll see how this one goes.

conditionning stint while the team is gone... he'll report to the team when they'll be back in MTL. He skated twice a day this summer.

750 000$ for a guy he putted 11 goals less than Chara during the last 4 years, I think it's not a bad deal...

1 year at $750K is a pretty good deal for us.

I can confirm this. Also on RIS..

The Habs are going to have to draw a lot of penalties if they really want to take advantage of his shot...

I like it at the price. This can only help. If we keep him in a suitable role he can help our pp. Additionally, if we find we don't need him after Markov returns we can ship him at the deadline for a draft pick or maybe another player.

Good insurance policy...
But I would had prefer Dandenault , a right-hand shot- as a 7th d-man and extra forward.

Congratulations Gainey for being able to sign MAB when all the other teams in the NHL were trying to get this guy.
Good luck in Montral Bergeron, you gonna need that a lot.
He is a HAB now and I am going to cheer for him.

750K is an excellent number. He's very similar to Weber in terms of what he brings. If he sucks, we can compare him and Weber (and Carle, maybe) head to head and let the least-awful NHL defenceman win.

But right now, I can't complain. This costs no assets, and gives us a legit NHL veteran, even if it is one no one else would sign. And to whoever said he wouldn't play for 800,000....

The point of getting him is for him to help out the pp and replace Markov, being the 7th D as nothing to do with this move

Not only did our PP just improve with Cammy, Spacek, and Bergeron's Shot, but also with Mara's aswell. Bergeron also is known for his play making.

For 750k, and who we've recently lost to injury, I wouldn't say our D got worse at all, if anything we've improved the team overall. Hes not as terrible on D as everyone seems to be over-exaggerating about.
