You don't need a shut down defenseman when you have a player like Lubo because the puck is going to end up heading back in the other direction with a quickness.

Still leaves Gagner, O'Sullivan, Eberle.
Seriously? Did you watch the game for that matter or are you even an Oilers fan? Who do you possibly think we can that can help our team by giving up that much?

We definitely need a top 2 or top 4 shutdown D-Man. If we are trading one of our 4 offensive d-men, we had better be getting a top 2-4 guy back. My guess is we trade Grebs...

He's probably the most likely to get traded of the 4, but I'd say Grebs has the lowest value of the 4 as well, due to his up and down play and his lack of a contract after this year.

I say you trade Gilbert, because he has high value, but a lower ceiling then Grebs.

It's fun to watch but it's also a little nerve wracking. A player like Souray doesn't need to be fighting the Kris Barch's of the league. Even if Barch gets pumped like he did he's still doing his job and then some by getting Souray off the ice for 5 plus minutes. I'm anxiously awaiting an Iginla-Souray tilt... Honestly surprised it hasn't happened yet.

for those who think the Kabi signing was a disaster look up how Luongo's (and Brodeur's) been playing so far

Why, exactly? It's not like any of the Oilers top four are defensive basket cases.

If we're trading a top four d, it had better be for help up front where the biggest problems lie.

that is sweet
he beats the defenseman while batting the puck out of midair to himself spinning into the offensive zone AND he doesnt put himself offside

Would you be able to send me a video clip of Grebeshkov's goal? My brother was at the game and the camera flashed on him and his son right after the goal. I would like to send him a copy of it if you have it. Thanks!!

WOOOW. Did not get to see much of the game because of issues unknown to mankind that messed up the PPV for a good chunk of the game. Very clever. Too bad he didn't score.

When it comes to the lines I think that it may be time to split up Horcoff and Hemsky. Also if Nilsson stays in I would rather see him with Cogliano than with Gagner. I just think that he and Cogs have better chemistry together.

Based on the first couple of games and all of last year, i would say that the Oilers desperately need a shut down defender, they have a been a gong show defensively for a long time now, every time a team gets the puck deep, you can count on that team to spend at least 10-20 seconds cycling the puck and for the Oilers to turn the puck over at least once or twice...... They need a guy who doesn't handle the puck like a grenade and throw it blindly up the boards time after time

...was just watching Sportsnet a few moments and they were talking about the Oilers and the game last night. I don't have a link as it was on t.v., but the host was saying Souray missed the morning practice because of an undisclosed injury...anyone have an idea what may have happened? I am not even going there with his shoulder issues so hopefully it's something else and minor.

One guy is not going to help this. The team as a whole needs to learn to be smarter in their own zone. It will take some time, but there's been progress there.

We have to remember that these guy have been told to do the wrong things for 8 years. It's going to take more than a couple games to break them out of that.

Yeah, that's true, it will take some time to adjust to the new system but i'm so frustrated at seeing them hemmed in their own zone time after time but i'm sure that they'll improve, the personnel is there for sure..... I do like the way the offense looks though, much better than last year

On the TEAM there were many guys that were just resting today because of minor little tweaks, such as a groin or some soarness. The staff is just not taking any chances with anybody this early in the season
