From Tim P.:

Emery is expected to start at Florida and JVR will be on a line with Asham and Pyorala.

Hmm... If JVR isn't playing with at least one strong offensive player at even strength, he should be playing with the Phantoms.

I don't think he'll be seeing much powerplay time anymore, either, given that Giroux has totally earned his spot as the 6th forward on the PP.

The lines will change one way or another once Betts returns and that could be the next game -- a week from tonight.

Also, unrelated, Clemmensen will make his season debut for the Panthers and they are shifting lines including demoting Cory Stillman.

Wow. I must have ignored the news that Betts could be back so quickly. Even still, it could just mean that Asham gets benched and JVR plays with Pyorala and Powe.... or Powe could end up in the press box and JVR stays with Pyorala and Asham.

Hopefully for JVR's sake he doesn't end up as the best offensive player on his line.

I remember during preseason Pyorala and JVR had some chemistry. (Ya I know preseason). Maybe they can help each other get some points. I hope Pyo starts to produce.

Oct. 22 (Bruins) was mentioned as a possibility then the parties took a step back and said though it was possible it wasn't a certainty. Still, it sounds like he is well ahead of schedule.

Gagne-Richards-Giroux
Hartnell-Carter-Briere
JVR-Pyorala-Asham
Carcillo-Powe-Lapperiere

I like Carcillo and Powe together, that line was good in pre season.

Sucks for JVR, but maybe he and Pyro can kindle something. I'd say they will give JVR some PP time to make up for it

There's really only one spot for JVR on the powerplay and that's Giroux's. They seem happy having the two defensive pairings stick together on the powerplay, as well, so I don't forsee Richards moving back there in the short term.

JVR had that spot before he was hurt though. I think him and Giroux will share it

Giroux, even in the short time he's been on the powerplay this season, has earned a full time place; he's the most dangerous passer the Flyers have.

Yeah I know, but I'm going by what I expect Stevens to do. If it were me, I would take Gagne or Coburn off the PP for awhile until they realize they are good players again

He's only a couple games into his NHL career. It's way more important for JVR to learn the basics than for him to pile up points in october. If the top 6 clicks together as much as they could based on their combined talent, we won't need his points anyway.

Here's Stevens' quote on that reformed line after practice:

Quote:
“I thought that line was great today. It seemed that everytime they came up the ice they had a good attack. They read off each other and their spacing was really good. We are not adverse to starting that way on Friday. Mika did a nice job in the middle and James looks really good right now. It will be nice to get him back playing again.”

There was a mention on Philly.com today saying that has not been announced/decided.

That is how I understood the different accounts.

From Tim P.:
Quote:
Rookie James van Riemsdyk, who missed the previous two games with concussion symptoms but seems to have recovered, is now on a line with Mika Pyorala and Arron Asham.
From Gormley:

http://blogs.courierpostonline.com/f...-their-health/

Quote:
On his line (Asham and Pyorala) playing well together, per statement from John Stevens:
“Yes, definitely. We had good instincts out there for each other. It was easy to read off each other so if we can keep that up in a game we will be golden.”.

I'd say Syvret over OKT. Florida isn't exactly a tough team, and OKT got benched last game

I think JVR on the line with Pyro and Asham will turn out to be an ok line. I think the Flyers should consider sending down JVR for now though. He isn't going to get enough ice time with Pyro and Asham and I think he would benefit playing in the AHL. Call up Nodl and let him grind it out on the 4th line. I'm not saying Nodl is better than JVR, just that JVR needs time to develop still, I think. Playing him on a line with guys like Asham and Pyorala isn't going to promote his development. He's only 20.

I thought Coburn was the most dangerous passer on this team.

We need to stack all three lines like we did in the first three games. Anything else is a mistake IMO.

I agree. otherwise I think JVR should not waste away on the third line (granted he hasn't played in this situation yet, but I am not anticipating much more than 10-12 minutes for that line tonite) and should spend at least a little bit of time in the AHL. What does he have like 10 total pro games under his belt at this point?
