Probably still as dumb as a post.

20+ penalties tonight in the Flyers/Pens game, including two 10-minute misconducts, and not one of them was assessed to Carcillo. Whether that's because he's calmed down or because he simply didn't get the chance in his 5:00 or so TOI, who knows. Poor guy--looks like he'll end up a skating pile of wasted potential after all.

It probably does have something to do with that. It's much more difficult to do something stupid in five minutes than it is in fifteen minutes.

What kills Carcillo's ice time in Philadelphia is that he doesn't play special teams there, and they spend the entire game rotating between pp and pk. They roll 4 lines even strength, but that never happens for them.

He does look a lot calmer, and he's been drawing a ton of penalties. He's also significantly faster, and his offensive skill seems to be returning (on the scoreboard in the preseason, and in his chances in the regular). I have to wonder though if they plan on keeping him on a shutdown line, or if that's just so that Lapperriere can mentor him on how to agitate without crossing the line? His linemates are talented defensive forwards who don't really produce a lot offensively. Carcillo's potential, before his sophomore year from Hell, appeared to be in his offensive abilities while he was crappy defensively. It's kind of the same question I have with putting slow skilled Mueller with speedy Upshall and Lombardi. Are you stifling a potential strength, or improving a weakness?
