Coyotes Recall Lassard

Coyotes Recall Lassard

No indication if this is just to clear his suspension or in anticipation of him playing in the NHL once the suspension is up.

This entire Aaron Downey, Mitch Fritz, Ryan Hollweg, Francis Lessard, Paul Bissonnette enforcer/tough guy/pest/whatever saga has been utterly baffling to this point. San Antonio is now left without an enforcer, right? Odd. I heard Don Maloney say on NHL Live that Bissonnette was their guy. Maybe Bissonnette was waived with some kind of injury that we weren't wise to?

What is going on?!?!? HAHA!

I think Maloney loves recalling players so he can send them back to San Anotonio.

He needed to recall him just so he can serve his 3 game suspension. He might get sent down as soon as it's done.

That would be my guess.

Does San Antonio have a few games off, or something. Why do this now, instead of last Saturday?

Don't worry, they have Hollweg down there to protect them...

Idle thought: did the team bring Lessard along for the trip or even fly him out of SA? Could they just leave him in SA and "send him back down" after the two game road trip?

In order to prevent teams from doing that after every game to save minute cap space, there is a rule that says you must physically bring the player with you or to you.

We have three games in three days, he's likely back in San Antonio (if he's not already there) by Sunday. He'll miss two games in SA.

Does he get paid when he's suspended by the league?

I'm pretty sure we have to pay him, but he has to donate his pay to the players fund, or whatever.

Who's going to enforce the issue if they don't comply - the league effectively owns the team so I'd think they'd get a pass if the wanted to leave him in SA.

Coyotes re-assign Lessard

That answers that.
