It was better for this team to loose 7-1 and look like crap then to loose 4-3 and Price be the only reason the score is not 7-3....I think this loss is a kick in the fanny to all our players...hopefully it makes them angry, if not, this will be a long season....the problem last year was that it did'nt seem to bother our players, hopefully with Gomez, Gionta, Gill, Moen(stanley cup champions) they can be a stabilizing factor in the dressing room. The next game in Edmonton will prove alot about the players mentioned and the character of this new team, if this loss can't "rally" the troops, so to speak, then buckle up, this is gonna be a rocky ride.

I live in Vancouver now, (and lived for 5 years in Montreal) and while the scrutiny is not as intense as Montreal its quite comparable. 1 team for the whole province (which has impressive hockey intensity credentials, example Terrace "HockeyVille" B.C.), and after a 3 game losing streak to open their "cup contending season" the pressure and scrutiny had exploded. Coming out with their first victory was huge for the players after 3 consecutive embarrassments, and I don't think you can hold it against them for celebrating every moment of their first reprieve this season. If they had a 3-0 record going into this game, and had still gone ******* after goal 6 and 7 then you might have something to complain about.

Think of the canucks as a sex starved dude who finally gets some action. Should he catch flak for blowing a massive load all over the place? No, cuz its just natural in that context.

Best post of the thread right here.

Dude, not to be rude.. but you should really make sure you read things before bashing a posters knowledge.

The guy said nothing about tonight's performance being tied in with whether or not Price is a legit #1 goalie.

He stated that, that if the people who think Price's confidence was shaken BEFORE the game started due to Halak playing yesterday then Price will never be a #1 goalie. Which makes a lot of sense.

I agree.

I'm not sure he knows his role 100% yet though. Tonight, he forechecked hard and threw some nice hits. His shot selection is poor, but with his shot I won't blame him.

He has played on all three of the bottom lines. His an offensive player, not really a banger. Let him use his tools.

It also seems like he was playing some LW when on the ice with Kostitsyn, which is a huge transition for him. Maybe I just noticed wrong though.

I come in peace.

It is way too early for the sky is falling thing.

Every team puts up a stinker or 2 a season. The Bzzz looked aweful against the Caps in the home opener (how bad is that)?

But we responded with a huge beatdown on the Canes. On the score board and on the ice.

I think your team will turn it around!

BTW

Hal Gill does suck!!

Good luck

Go Bzzzz!

It's the kind of game that just happened. No need to talk or write about it endlessly.

I don't get all the negativity.

Who didn't see this coming?

Luongo already had his head under the guillotine, as well as the entire Nucks team after a HORRID 0-3 start. They came in last night, at home, and faced a team that played their ***** off last night and probably IMO got robbed of a win. It happens and the season is young.

That would be fine if they hadn't looked like crap in the three previous games as well. They've had a couple of solid periods this season, but the rest of the time, they've been brutally outplayed. Yeah, road trip, injuries, new players, new coach and new system, but I'm not getting a warm fuzzy feeling.

As usual, I'll just keep watching every game with my fingers crossed that they'll get 'er done.

Can anybody explain why people are saying Price had a bad game when his defenders gave up the puck in really bad positions, leading to his getting deeked out on the first goal (Weber's mistake for being out of position on the boards and trying to play the puck, not the man) then getting deeked out again for the second by further poor positional play. Gets beat on a one-timer where his defender (Spacek) doesn't block the passing lane and the center coming back (Plekanec) doesn't take his man... on another goal, Moen, last man back, fails to clear and gives up a 2 on 0 rush. I haven't even mentioned all the dumb penalties that lead to PP goals against. Yet, people say Price had a bad game?? REALLY??

And for the people saying "Ohhh but but but..Gill tried to turn things around with his fight" - yeah, NO. First off, it was late in the 3rd when the game was essentially over and if you watch the replay, he was challenged to fight and didn't really have a choice, and then the friendly giant was destroyed by a much smaller guy. So, yeah, Gill...our savior.... my left nut.

I can't believe the over-reaction 4 games in.

Every team is going to get blown out once a season. The Canucks players were just a better team and wanted it more period. Don't blame this on Gill or Price. The entire team was outplayed by a bunch of guys who wanted it more.

Bad loss, but you put it behind you, move on, prepare for Edmonton.

Price did have a bad game, you can slice it, dice it, chop it, and mix it anyway you want but a shot is a shot. 7 goals on 31 shots is not good no matter what. The 2 on 0 price didn't play that too well, he wasn't poke checking, he gave up some rebounds. The 7th goal wasn't his fault either? Other goalies have bad D, but don't give up 7 goals, and it's not like he faced 45 shots. You can't excuse his play last night at all, if we wanted an average goalie we could have anyone in nets. Price is supposed to be a #1 who should be able to stop at least a good chunk of breakaways/2 on 0s, he should stop more than he lets in, that's what goalies are 'supposed' to do, come up big when the D is out of place etc..Otherwise you can throw any average goalie in nets, and give up 3-4 goals a game.

That's also not to say the whole team stunk too, but Price does get some blame, he's not immune, had he come up big, I'd have said, Price only let in 3 goals but played amazing. But Price, the D, forwards, the whole team stunk. It was 1 big stinkeroo last night.
