Blueshirts United

Has anyone joined yet? The membership plans look cool but the prices are pretty high. What does everyone think about it?

Pointless.

Another reason for Dolan to make extra bucks.

If those prices were donations to a charity then I would consider it. Honestly though I personally could care less about being invited to these events otherwise, especially if it's simply a money making scheme. I've never really been too wrapped up in meeting celebrities/athletes to begin with anyway.

I think the cheapest plan would be the only viable option for my situation, but only because the membership gets you 15% off at the Garden stores.

What are you buying from the Garden store? You could probably get most things cheaper online regardless of the discount. (Jerseys, hats, t-shirts, hoodies, etc.)

If Dolan didn't raise ticket prices by 40% since 2005, then I'd possibly consider it.

On a side note, just did some math:
http://www.andrewsstarspage.com/inde...since_1994_95/
Based on this site, the average price for a Rangers ticket in 1994-95 was $32.01. Today it's $58.57.

That's an increase of 82.97% in 15 years. Now, if you go based on the average inflation rate being 3%, you'd expect prices to increase to $49.87 (32.01 * 1.03^15) today. Therefore, 27% or $8.70 per ticket is due to just general markups.

Of course this chart, does not account for what sections the markups occurred.

Chances are you're right, but since I have season tickets I'll probably end up buying some stuff in the Garden stores anyway. I know I'll be buying a media guide as soon as I can. I'm sure there will be others to follow.

Don't you already get a 15 percent discount card with your season tickets already?

And they don't sell media guides at the Garden anymore. You have to buy it off the website and either look at it on the computer or print it out yourself.

Speaking of which, where is a good place to get Rangers merch online? Seem that the NHL store is ridiculously overpriced....

I'm not the actual STH, so that doesn't work for me unfortunately. Also didn't know about the media guide thing.

Oh well, I guess the 15% off probably isn't worth it then.

Seems like an absolute waste!

We the fans would be better off with Rangers Supporters Club (not a boooster club) with organized road trips to away games and organized viewing parties at bars throughout the city for long distance away games. That would be my only incentive for joining anything else for a $ fee. I find it disgusting that Flyers fans have organized traveling away support and we don't.

Who says we cant do it? Lets make one. Right now. We can get a free website up and running and pick some road games throughout the year. Well get a few buses, get group tickets, and go invade other arenas!

I'm absolutley interested in running and organizing this, so if anyone wants to give it a try, just let me know

I've actually thought about this before. We have a good group of posters and fans right here on these forums. I can't imagine a reason why we wouldn't be able to organize something like this.

How would we go about starting it?

Make a thread and see if people would be interested? We can probably get about 20 or so members from here + whoever they bring. Could easliy be 50 people and thats more than enough for group tickets someplace.

We have to talk about what arena too

Starting a thread to gauge interest (I'm sure we'll have more than enough) would be the first place to start. Collect e-mails of those interested and create a mailing list so we can directly communicate.

After that, phoning arenas and finding out about group rates. Then contacting bus companies to find out their rates. Figure out our general costs and then e-mail everyone to see who would still be interested.

EDIT: The more organized part would come after we have measured the interest. It would probably follow a model of a fan club. Handling the money and fees are the biggest hurdles.

I've been trying to do this for years. Let's get it done !!! The only issue I always come into is actually getting group tickets for games vs the Rangers. We need to get this worked on !!

I would imagine that's a hurdle. I can't envision management being to excited about giving out group tickets to opposing team's fans.

Why does the team selling us tickets have to know were from New York?

I'm fairly certain they tend to ask when you order large numbers of tickets. I've never actually done it but again I'm pretty sure they like to know about the group before they sell the tickets. Being dishonest would only get us one go around at that venue if we actually organized a group.
