Fleury to WBS???

If Cape Breton gets eliminated, would Fleury be eligible to play for WBS? I know he isn't on the "Clear Day Roster," but would he be in a similar situation to Whitney's?

Yeah, but he'd probably just practice with them. Caron and Chiodo will probably start the playoffs.

There is a article (I will try to find it) that CP was saying he would like to have him there, or something like that......Hold on, I'll find it!

I did however cut and paste a copy of it on another board I post at.

Why don't you just write the link out? Is there a reason that it won't work if you do? I've never linked to ***********, but I don't see what the problem would be.

We've had bad situations with the boards you're refering to, which is why they're the only boards we don't link to.
Thanks for avoiding it in the future, which also means don't circumvent the filter please.

Tom Grace today said that Fleury is a possiblity for WBS in the next couple of days, we just have to wait and see what CP decides.

UPDATE:

I was just watching TSN and Bob Mckenzie reported that Fleury is on his way to WBS. How true is this?

I didn't see anything in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette about it.

I saw that there was a possibility, but nothing that backs-up Bob's claim that he is on his way.

I certainly like the idea. I will absolutely hate it if he's dressed in place of Chiodo, and will hate it even more so if he's starting.

I think you're going to be a hateful person in a week, then.

Seriously, I'm better he is at least the backup instantly.

The problem I have with it is that they seem to be unable to learn from their very RECENT mistakes.

I think we can all agree that, in hindsight, Fleury stayed in the NHL a bit too long. Some argue he shouldn't have been in the NHL in the first place. But what the Penguins tried to do was to let Fleury salvage his game at the NHL level, which really didn't work. He just ended up seeing 50 shots a night and giving up 5 goals, usually breakaways or 3rd chances on rebounds.

Then Fleury gets sent down to CB, and clearly the playoffs didn't work out for him. Whether it was his fault or not really isn't relevant, because the bottom line is that Fleury is going to blame himself for every game he loses, as all goalies do. But again, it seems like the Penguins don't realize when enough is enough, they keep giving Fleury all of these chances to redeem himself, when in the end they just end up hurting his confidence more and more. It seems like this will be yet another case, and I hope Fleury can handle it.

I stand by my idea in early December that Fleury should have split time between the NHL and AHL via conditioning stints. No WJC, no Cape Breton.

Was he able to go down to the AHL then? I thought you had to be 20yrs of age regardless?
If he was allowed to go down I would have prefered that too.

He could have been sent down on a conditioning stint, so long as he agreed to it.

I think you're right. There is definitely the rule you cite, and I don't recall it ever being broken before on the provision that it be a conditioning stint.

After all, it would then be like there was no rule in the first place. If you wanted to send a 19-year-old there, you could just say the magic word "conditioning" and it would be okay.

I think what you're describing is what needs to occur for a player on a one-way contract to be sent down and receive AHL-level pay. I really don't think it allows you to get around the age rule.

I think it does. It happened with Dan Blackburn before.
