Get Matt Duchene a winger

The big line of Wolski/Stastny/Hejduk isn't getting touched, and the likes of Svatos, McLeod, Tucker, etc. don't cut it with Duchene on the second line. Sacco refuses to move any of Galiardi/Hensick/O'Reilly up with him on a wing right now.

Any decent 2nd line scoring wingers available and at what cost?

Give it a bit of time.

Jones will probably be put on Duchene's wing. I think they will play good together if they do. There is no need to go out and trade for another winger when there is already enough to fill the lines and have decent players sit out.

Jones is a player that I don't know why a huge number of Avs fans are so high on. I like the guy's hustle down the wing, and he sometimes imposes his big body, but that's it. There's no scoring touch there. 8 goals in 40 games last year, 2 in 27 the year before... 0 in 10 playoff games. If anything, it'd be Chris Stewart who could pop some in on his wing but he's lazy and benched right now.

And who was his center for those 40 games last year?

It wasn't Stastny, He only played with Sakic for a little bit then Sakic got injured.

Then Wolski was playing center for the top line, with Hejduk?

So who was play with Jones for quite a few of those games before his shoulder injury?

Give Duchene a chance to get adjusted to the new style of play and give Jones a chance too.

Jones did get a shorthanded goal last night, and an assist in his season opener.

I've got a couple wingers for Duchene, Andrei Kostitsyn and Mike Cammalleri.

Now you need someone to play the second line with Plekanec.

Hejduk is not getting traded though. He has a NTC, has no intents on waiving it (He has spent his entire in Colorado) and he just signed a new extension at a discount to stay in Colorado.

I was hoping the Avs would sign him, especially for the price he signed in Tampa.

Nilsson might actually not be too bad there, although he won't bring any needed size to the Avs

The Avs are in a rebuild. They're not going to be looking for outside players to complement their lines. The point of this season is to assess what they've got and get guys some playing time to mature.

Oh wait, if you want him, you'll have to trade with Boston for the Leafs pick

This.

If the Avs are as good as their record suggests, then there shouldnt be any hurry to make moves. If, of course, they're overachieving, then trading away assets to acquire a 2nd liner would be a stupid idea, wouldn't it?

Very much so.

There's no need to rush to get him a linemate, especially at the expense of assets. How about we try to develop someone from within before trying to cut off our nose to spite our face.
