DETROIT (Ticker) -- Manny Legace looks to follow up his first career playoff win Saturday afternoon when the Detroit Red Wings host the Nashville Predators in Game Two of the Western Conference quarterfinals.

In his first career playoff start, Legace allowed a goal just 16 seconds into the contest but finished with 23 saves as Detroit posted a 3-1 victory in Game One on Wednesday.

Kris Draper, Tomas Holmstrom and Robert Lang scored in the third period for Detroit, which snapped a four-game postseason losing streak.

In addition to losing their first playoff game, Nashville lost defenseman Marek Zidlicky to an upper body injury just two shifts into the game following a hit from Kirk Maltby.

WHO'S HOT:

Detroit - Draper scored a career-high 24 goals during the regular season and gave the Red Wings the momentum Wednesday by scoring early in the third period.

Nashville - Steve Sullivan has 15 assists in his last 19 games.

WHO'S NOT:

Detroit - Steve Yzerman has only one goal in his last 18 games.

Nashville - David Legwand has four goals in his last 19 games.

STREAKS: Nashville is 2-12-2-2 all time at Joe Louis Arena.

HISTORY: Detroit won a playoff game not coached by Scotty Bowman for the first time since 1993 when Bryan Murray was coaching.

LEADERS:

Detroit - Lang, Draper and Holmstrom one goal; Maltby two assists.

Nashville - Adam Hall, one goal; Scott Hartnell and Greg Johnson, one assist.

INJURIES:

Detroit - Curtis Joseph (ankle); Dominik Hasek (groin); Jason Woolley (back); Mark Mowers (foot).

Nashville - Zidlicky (upper body); Rem Murray (neck).

this is, with out a doubt, the best series for Detroit. Nashville is FORCING them to play hard and gut it out. No easy coasting, no 5-6 goals. Gutting it out, and coming out on top.

2-0 series lead, and a heartbreaker for the Preds AGAIN. 1 goal lead in the third, and then tied, kinda controlling play in the third. In the end, lose both games.

That was a BS penalty on Hartnell. That was NOT a late hit, well within 2 steamboats. All hail McCreary the wonder ref.

That was late, Chelios Dumped the puck off, and was skating for at least 3 seconds and got lvled.

and even if it was boarderline, i could care less with all the BS calls in the 1st two periods, and Detroit getting all of them.

No way that was 3 seconds, that is a POOR, POOR call. It would be bad in the first period. It is a travesty with 3 minutes to play in the third.

Horse crap. Detroit got no more calls against them than they deserved. Just because they had more doesn't mean that it should negate penalties later in the game, going either way. I do agree though, that it should of been a penalty. Stupid play by Hartnell, though for all of the wistle swallowing that is done in the playoffs, they definitely jumped at the chance to blow it there.

Egil when even a Nashville fan admits it should have been a penalty (given the frequency of penalties throughout the game) your case is awfully weak. And leave it to a Sens fan to bash McCreary (not that there's anything wrong with that).

That said the Wings are lucky to be up 2-0. This game could have gone either way and Detroit just happened to get a lucky bounce.

The Nashville broadcasters said it was a late hit and a legitimate penalty. Since it was late in the game and didn't negate a scoring chance it should never have been called.

Chelios no longer had possession of the puck, and was in the neutral zone. Clear obstruction penalty.

Mickey Redmond [wings coor commentator] Is on a post game show right now here in Metro Detroit. He said Before the play-offs there was a Memo and a Conference Call out to referees telling them to call _EVERYTHING_ By the book. Basically they wanna force the players to adjust, rather than the referees adjust.

Myself, I have no Prb with that. What i Do have a prob is they started this at the start of the season, and then trailed off. It was non-existant by the end. and then, with a flip of a switch, its back on when its NOT expected.

be consistant

If it was the 70's or 80's Orzagh's career might be over the way he crashed into the net on his goal. Ugh.
