After reading it, we had noticed him limping after the scrum, but sounds like it was before that...but im sure the scrum didnt help either

Here would be my pairings:

Tyutin - Klesla
Stralman - Roy
Methot - Russell

Dont want Stralman/Russell together.

The boys just need to suck it up like they did in December last year and we can get through this.

Dammit. I hope this is one of those knee sprains that heals well instead of nagging him the entire season. Godspeed Jan Hejda!

Roy will play. As for Russell and Stralman on the same line I doubt it. The defense will be tested without Hedja in the linup as will our goalies. I hope he recovers soon.

Ugly, ugly, ugly. But we can probably get through it. We're not the only team that has had bad luck injuries, after all. And Commie should be back before too long.

Still... damnit, it would have been nice to stay lucky.

Here is why we will get through this.

Great Goaltending

Better Power Play

Wicked PK

More offense than we have ever had. Should have had 4 goals last night.

The D will step up!!!

I also feel we can work through it, but it really would have been nice to not have to work through it.

Hopefully our defensive zone coverage doesn't go to hell, although I think we will be ok with Roy. He looked pretty good the few games he played with us

Our depth in that position is so good, we have players that could crack other teams line up in the minors. From the reports it sounds like Commie will only miss about another game or so. Hopefully we dont rush him.
So let's assume you are right, for a minute, and that our depth is good. One of the issues is that you have to move someone up to 21 minutes a night, kill penalties, etc. We are shifting 5/6 d-men around into posistions of more responsibility. At least we know Klesla and Tyutin can handle the minutes. Now if one of those two were to drop as well, we'd be in trouble no matter who we called up. The rest of the D is patchwork at this point. Stralman is doing pretty well, but he's probably going to start to feel the effects of heavy minutes at some point.

I'm not as much concerned about games 1-4 with this group if the injury situation stays the same, it's games 20 and beyond. It's the cumlative effect on the entire D over time. If Commie comes back soon, it's not as much of an issue. However, I will believe Commie is back in the lineup when he is actually back in it. Groins can linger for a long time, especially if you come back too soon. He'll also need to get back into game shape.

We got kind of lucky last year with D injuries. We have some early season issues. Time to see how we respond. This could have been worse.

So who moves up in his place? Does CLB have someone to slot in, or are they looking for a warm body?

I ask because Tampa seems to be looking to unload Lukas Krajicek who is a good skater but seems a little out of place in this system. He can move the puck but can't play the physical way Tocchet seems to want to play him. They also want to move Smaby back into the lineup.

LK is at his best when hes kept under 17 minutes or so and could be a decent warm-body fill in.

What does CLB depth look like?

Personally, I dig Lukas, but he doesn't seem like the kind of guy Howson would be looking to bring in, if he's looking at all, which I'm not sure he is. Yet anyway. Krajicek doesn't really help replace Hejda.

6 weeks makes it about 20 games. It sucks, but its still better than an ACL tear. Hopefully, he is closer to 4 weeks. Thankfully we now have Stralman, and Roy, and Commie coming back.

The offense has to get going.

I doubt Howson is looking to swing a trade to replace Hejda at this point in the season when Hejda is only expected to miss four to six weeks. He's been building defensive depth since he took over as GM in part to deal with situations like this.

I kind of figured that to be the case. Thanks for the replies! Hopefully its something minor for Hedjas sake.

This is Methot's chance.

Tyutin - Stralman
Methot - Klesla
Russell - Roy
