Except, it's impossible for a goalie to cover every last inch of the net, and if you give a guy like Marian Gaborik time to look for an opening and pick his spot, that's what happens. It's more on the defenseman, he needs to take away the far side shot by being aggressive from the inside if there's no threat of a one timer. That way, that goalie just needs to seal up the short side.
It's similar to Kopitar's goal on the Sharks, except it was in closer and Gaborik has a harder shot.
As I write this Gaborik just cut into the slot untouched and almost picked the glove high corner again.
