It's the NHL. The shot was taken from an angle and he saw it all the way. It needs to be stopped.

Huge PP here. We need a big shift from the 1st unit here, they've been off tonight.

Again, the Kings were not going to win this game 2-1. The Kings need to score more goals.

No point in using Quick tonight when he is playing tomorrow.

Either way, Ersberg needs to challenge the shooter and box him off. There were no other Ranger within two lines.

There's the difference of the game right there.

Lundy has made some big saves.

That is why this game is where it is. Kop cant score from the slot, and Gaborik and Boyle score from outside the dots.

I like Simmonds double shifting on the fourth line instead of Ivanans, just hope the fourth line doesn't get much of a shift.

Don't forget how poorly Quick played in his first game against Phoenix, a much weaker opponent than NY.

Amazing how the 4th line actually has a good shift with Simmonds out there instead of #41.

Been very impressed with Richardson

They weren't? You know this how? They may not have won 2-1 but 3-2 is easily possible. I am sure Quick could handle a period in this game and the game tomorrow. He is a big boy.

Wow, one shot by the rags this period and they score?

We should have won this game.

Can't win them all, we have a backup for a reason. Detroit is going to be important.

I would say they are all important. Taking it one game at a time is a cliche, but why would you be expecting a loss against Detroit with EE in net and not against the first place Rangers?

Oh well...can't win em all...

Remember, Detroit is in the Western Conference, so it's a 4 point game swing. This is Eastern so it's not as important. In the end Detroit is more important, period.

Detroit is a conference opponent. We won't be seeing the Rangers in the charts ever, we will be seeing Detroit however. You put the best opportunity on the game that matters most.

Yeah, I heard Jim Fox say that, too, but I don't buy it.

Except, it's impossible for a goalie to cover every last inch of the net, and if you give a guy like Marian Gaborik time to look for an opening and pick his spot, that's what happens. It's more on the defenseman, he needs to take away the far side shot by being aggressive from the inside if there's no threat of a one timer. That way, that goalie just needs to seal up the short side.

It's similar to Kopitar's goal on the Sharks, except it was in closer and Gaborik has a harder shot.

As I write this Gaborik just cut into the slot untouched and almost picked the glove high corner again.
