10-15-09 Avs at Canadiens 5:30 PM MT

Anderson likely to be in net...though:
Quote:
Coach Joe Sacco doesn't like to let the media know who his goaltender will be until the day of a game
Neither Anderson, nor Budaj has been stellar against Montreal:
Quote:
Anderson has an 0-2-1 career record against Montreal, with a 3.86 goals-against average. Backup Peter Budaj is 0-1 against the Canadiens, with a 3.05 GAA
Nothing too deep from me this morning, been up with a sick kid all night.

GO AVS!

Im excited for this game!! Ryan Wilson is a friend who has worked very very hard for this opportunity.

He is a very skilled offensive D-man with a gritty tough game away from the puck. He is a good prospect for you guys, I have no doubt in his abilities. He was overlooked in the draft for skating issues but I don't believe that is as big an issue anymore.

Hope to watch a great game but with a hab victory. sorry

I think Im right there, Im just one tap-in away from exploding, so hopefully that comes soon, said Duchene.

I love that he's so confident, some might even call it cocky.

The habs will be buzzing since it is their home opener. If we can survive the first ten minutes and manage to get the first goal I think we'll do alright. Let's make a pact that nobody predicts Duchene's first goal tonight, since that hasn't seemed to work thus far

Duchene won't score a goal the whole season.

Book it.

I think this is going to be a tough one. Montreal, unlike Toronto, have the talent in their lineup to end their 3-game slide in a hurry. But I like the Avs chances on a few fronts:

1. Anderson gives them a chance to win. He has shown this to be the case in every start he has made.

2. The Habs smallish forwards. The Avs have actually become a more physical team this season and I like how Colorado matches up against Montreal in this area.

3. The PK and PP are clicking. If their percentages hold and Anderson remains sharp the Avs will win far more than they lose.

Win or lose, I think Duchene is due. I see a red light and a puck dug out of the net for posterity in his very near future.

Pretty simple recipe for tonight's game, in my opinion.

1 - Special teams have to keep up this pace.

We need to make teams fear taking penalties against us, and it's slowly going in that direction. We keep burying every team's mistakes, and sooner or later they're going to start second guessing that cross-check in the corner or that hook in the neutral zone. PP has been dynamite. PK has been efficient and the 4 pairings we use up front look perfect right now.

2 - Crash and bang these smurfs all game long.

An inexperienced, injury-ravagaed defense corps with a ridiculously small set of forwards. Crash and bang on these guys all game long. The Jones', McLeods, etc. need to just chip it in deep and pound on these guys. The turnovers and mistakes will then come. As for our D, we need to SKATE with their forwards but most importantly play physical on them. Not a stupid physical like the Leafs, though. Bottom line is that with guys like Hannan, Quincey, Foote, Clark, and Wilson in there, we should be able to lay a physical beating on them.

My prediction: 3-2 Habs in OT. I think we'll play a good game, but cough up a lead late(another learning curve), and then the Habs are just too good in a 4-on-4 situation.

Duchene wont score tonight and whats up with this? Why are the Avs always playing in home openers? Thats 3 now on this road trip. (Nashville, Chicago and now Montreal)

Is he gonna be our new mascot from now on?

Haha, well, better than Bernie....

Anyways, I sure hope Andy isn't tired after all the action he's been seeing. I think this could be his first bad game....
The boys better come out flying, cuz you can bet that Montreal will too. This is a game where it's not expected to be a win (toronto), but it's definitely not expected to be a loss either. These guys are kinda like Toronto I believe where they haven't quite found their identity yet with all the new players that they acquired. Let's make good on that.

I won't be able to see the first period sadly, have to work. ...I hate following the game on my cell phone *sigh*

I am so not predicting a Doucher goal.
But I will predict an assist.

....I was gonna say something but now I forget....damn.

Edit: Oh, I love how the guy up top says teams are now afraid to take penalties against us. Because it's true! Ah, we haven't had a powerplay people actually cared about since like, 2006! Oh how I love Quincey.

I'll be at the game tonight sporting the RBK Stastny white!

Here's hoping Mr. Anderson will be tending the goal tonight too. That said, at least if Budaj plays, he has something to prove.

GO AVS!

I don't know how good we match up with Montreal to be honest. Their forwards may be small but they are fast. Hannan and Quincey will do fine, but I think Footer may be in the minus column tonight. On the other hand Montreal's defense is nothing to brag about either. This one could go either way (as any game in the NHL can). I think it is going to be a 5-4 or 6-4 game. Hopefully Andy can steal us another one.

This game is going to make me miss Montreal...

FANTASTIC place to watch a hockey game. If you have never been, you need to go...The tour of the Bell Centre is amazing.

It'd be way cooler if you were sporting a good jersey Stastny white...

I too think it will be a pretty high scoring game. But I always expected Footer to be in the minus column....that's what he is now.

Thankfully Price hasn't quite found his game yet, so I'm sure we go in to this game with the better goaltender, even if Andy is tired.

We are gonna lose tonight :

1- it's Montreal's home openner , the crowd will be VERY vocal and behind them .

2- They are just back from a road trip where they were 2-3 , but in reality they should be 0-5.

3-The fans and the journalist are saying how great and strong the Avs are and that the avs have no chance ... and usually it has the contrary effect so the habs will win.

4-Habs players had a slow start ,Plekanec, Cammalleri and Mara are their baest players with only 4 points in 5 games , so their other "top" players are due to have a good game... and againt they are playing home and the will have to prove something to their fans .

5- we dont have much choice on who will put in the net , we put in a cold goalie in Budaj who was so so last season against an ungry team or we put Anderson against his old head coach ( J. Martin ) and his old goalie coach ( P. Groulx). So even if Anderson has been playing on his head since the start of the season , Groulx and Martin are perfectly placed to know Anderson's weaknesses .

6- we are facing a team on a four days rest , against a team in the middle of a long road trip that will be playing his 3rd game in 4 nights.

No HE WILL NOT score a goal tonight! Quit jinxing him you moobs!

Anyhow, last time the Avs played the Habs in Montreal they blew a decent lead in pretty humiliating fashion. Let's hope we don't see a repeat.
