thank god!

its been almost a week since i've heard this idea...AGAIN
look, i would LOVE it, especially with JVR playing like he is...

Hartnell-carter-briere
gagne-richards-pyorala (was a FANTASTIC line, always had possession)
(heres the kicker)
JVR-Forsberg-Giroux (imagine the influence foppa would have on our future)
4th line doesnt need to dress.
maybe carcillo/-betts-asham/powe
or asham betts lappy?
honestly, trade 3 of them (asham carcillo powe) for someone like ryan callahan (hopeful trade) or just trade carcillo and asham for picks, thin out the salary and bring in foppa

Guys, you probably need to trade Carcillo to create cap space.

Hartnell - Carter - Brière
Gagne - Richards - Giroux
James van Riemsdyk III - 21 Forsberg Jr - Mr Ian de Laperriere
Cote - Betts - Asham
Powe

Timonen - Pronger
Carle - Coburn
Parent - Tollefsen
Syvret

Trade: Carcillo

AHL: Pyörälä

Huh? A guy making the minimum gets traded? For what?

Forsberg could only come here if he is cheap or if Gagne's injury is more serious then believed.

We have roughly $2 mill in cap space.

Which is why the Flyers are dispatching European scout Ilkka Sinisalo to watch Forsberg.

And why not? With Simon Gagne’s health up in the air, Danny Briere’s groin a minor concern that could possibly become major, and the rest of the offense sputtering, the Flyers could use an offensive infusion that a healthy Forsberg could supply.

No one doubted he was a great player. No one doubted his toughness, or his skill. What they doubted was his health, and rightfully so. Forsberg is notoriously fragile.

But ,when he announced his plans to come back to the NHL in September, Sinisalo went to see him too. His report was glowing. He got a message back to G.M. Paul Holmgren that Forsberg looked like his old self. He was skating fluidly. He was dominating play. And most importantly, his foot was both pain and discomfort free.

He had multiple surgeries on it to get it right. He skated for more than a year just to get it feeling normal again. He was ready to return.

But, then he suffered a small stress fracture to a bone in the same foot -—completely unrelated to the previous injury. He sat for a month. But now, he’s ready to go again.

And this is, for certain, his last chance. If he were to play in the Swedish Elite League, he would be ineligible for a return to the NHL this season. This tournament does not effect that eligibility. So he has a few games to prove that he can play the game and at the highest of levels.

Then the scouts will file their reports. If Sinisalo is still as enamored with Forsberg as he was in September, the discussions will get very interesting.

Great, then we could have two-three players who are prone to be in and out of the lineup, hope those Phantoms get frequent flyer rewards

Some news on Forsberg...

Forsberg not playing in Karjala tourney
Quote:
Peter Forsberg apparently has decided not to play for Sweden in the upcoming Karjala tournament, a European round-robin thing Nov. 5-8. Not sure of all the details as to why not yet, but he hadn’t been included on the roster for Sweden because of his foot problems, though there would have been room created for him if he’d been ready and willing to go. Originally, he said he would/wanted to play in the tourney.

It’s always pretty much impossible to guess what will happen next with Peter Forsberg, so I’m not going to engage in the usual dartboard throwing that I’ve sometimes succombed to with him.

The word I hear from some “people close to him”, though, is that he would like to play in the NHL this year, but just isn’t sure yet if he’ll be able to give it a go. He was playing great for MoDo before they found a stress fracture in his troubled right foot.

As always, we’ll have to wait and see with Foppa.

Forsberg will play in Karjala Cup:

http://www.hockeykanalen.se/

One hour ago he said: "Fun to be on the national team again"

And he will tell MoDo what his plans are at the 9th of novembre.

I wouldn't be so sure. Would you really be surprised if they stuck someone on LTIR, signed Foppa, and decided to worry about the problem later?

That's not really a fair comparison, though. Carcillo and Forsberg are not the same type of player, and Carcillo isn't around to set-up players and pop in pretty goals like Forsberg. He's a grinder, and every team needs guys like Carcillo...

Not saying I wouldn't like Forsberg on the cheap (who wouldn't?), but I doubt if it's Carcillo who would be traded to make room for him.

You have to really be injured to go on LTIR, they can't just "stick" someone on there.

No no no. In Forsberg we DO NOT trust. Why does this franchise continue to bring back retreads? The guy is done. Why is it so hard for people to understand that? He's done.
