Time to trade Plekanec

Is it only me but everytime a player is not doing good, we always say we should have trade him when he was doing a great job?

I'm only speculating but shouldn't we trade him now? He's doing a fine job...

Anyway, that's what I thought..

Common sense dictates that you generally don't want to get rid of players who are doing well.

Price played well tonight too, so did Gorges. Should we trade them too?

Great idea! The team would be much better without him!

Yeah well it's cause we kind of need Plekanec atm. And what we'd get in return would be either a draft pick, or a player of equal value.

We can trade him, if we can bring another, better center in return. He was our best player tonight.

No, but this guy has had up and downs, and i'm sure we could get something good if we trade him.

Should we? Maybe.

We're more likely to see Gainey trade away our first round pick than to see him trade one of our best players though. Gainey is a man trying to save his own ass right now.

I agree with the OP on the fact that it's always a good idea to trade players at their highest value... but we stil haven't given up on this team.

In 2 months, if the team still sucks, that could be a good time to trade Plekanec, if his value is still high.

Yea... let's trade pleks so our second line center is either maxwell or lapierre and ps if you havent noticed Pleks has been our best center if not player thus far.

We'll trading Pleks would pretty much guarantee Taylor Hall.
The only guys and can produce offense are him and the 3 smurfs.

I'd trade anyone on this team except Markov.

But, how the **** can we rebuild when the rebulid happened this summer.

The reasons why we're in deep **** are 1) Markov's injury 2) Gainey's brain.

What are you trying to say, that the leafs are ready to trade their first round pick for Plekanec?

Btw Kostitsyn is starting to wake up; give him a few weeks and he might get some good chemistry going with Plekanec.

Boston owns that picks, so i hope the leafs finish 9th.

Sadly I doubt that they'll be 1-2 points out of a playoff spot.

This makes a lot more sense than people who want to trade away our players when their values are at their lowest.

I still wouldn't actively seek a trade involving Plekanec, but I give you credit for trying to maximize your returns.

Unless we get a better center that performed more than Plek so far this year, we can't trade him.

How smart would it be to trade our most productive player so far though??..Genius I tell you.

The only way I'd trade Plekanec would be if we got a player of at least the same value under contract for longer, as I highly doubt that he'll re-sign here.

I would think about it. If we believe Plekanec is just running good an we expect to see the old plekanec back soon we should trade him.

He's maybe at his peak for the season.

but

I dont think the difference in trade value right now from a red hot Plekanec is enough compared to the normal Plekanec (say we average his career so far) .

Like usually we will get a legit prospect or something like weak prospect and 2nd round pick.

Right now..we might get a proven NHL player..most likely a tad overpaid..

not worth it to trade him at all imo
