Shanahan searching for team

Quote:
Brendan Shanahan's agent, Rick Curran, told The Post that the 40-year-old right wing, cut by the Devils Sept. 30, is seeking another suitable place to add to his 656 career goals.

"Brendan wants to continue his career," Curran said.

Sources say that at least one NHL team has indicated interest in the 21-year vet. More than one GM has inquired from The Post about Shanahan's preseason play.
Quote:
Although Shanahan is an unrestricted free agent, Curran said that Shanahan would not be likely to consider returning to the Devils if they regretted their move. The separation may not have been all that amicable.

The Devils treated Shanny like garbage. Typical Lou.

“Where is he? Well, at the moment, he’s about to have a haircut,’’ said Rick Curran, Shanahan’s longtime agent, when reached by phone yesterday. “I just spoke with him. He’s fine. He’s skating every day at Chelsea Piers [in lower Manhattan], and still hoping he gets a call.’’

According to Curran, there is one club, not the Bruins, that remains interested in acquiring Shanahan, a sure-shot Hall of Famer with 656 goals and 1,354 points, as well as three Stanley Cup rings (all with Red Wing logos).

“It’s the usual issues,’’ said Curran. “You know, roster limits, salary-cap restrictions. It’s just a matter of remaining patient and ready.’’

You're gloating over a 3-2 win. Get a life.

Shanny does not share Lou's views of the amicable split. Hardly a surprise.

Shanny, retire, or take 500k, come to the habs and play every so often.

They're up near the limit, roster, cap and contracts wise.

I'm not sure how Hab's fans feel but I think Shanny could probably help them out a bit.

Montreal makes the most sense

NYR don't need him, Isles are in a youth movement and have Weight as a veteran leader, Buffalo has too much depth and the Devils cut him.

Closer teams Boston has some injuries but once they get back no spots. Philly is pretty set too

This thread is just petty cross-Hudson bickering, OP. Is this an information thread about Shanahan, or a thin pretext to pan the Devils in the immediate aftermath of a Rangers-Devils tilt?

I'd take Shanny, give him a shot at the 2nd line. Definitely need some help there.

I think Washington might take a flyer on him. He's not going to do anything spectacular, but at least he'll provide them with established leadership and Stanley Cup experience, both of which they sorely lack. I would love his leadership on the Sharks, but he's not a top six player and is too slow to play in their lightning-quick bottom six. Plus, he isn't going to sign with a team west of, well, the Eastern seaboard. Maybe Montreal.

I agree. At league minimum or slightly higher, what's the harm? He could replace Pacioretty, who hasn't worked out on the second line; however, he had a great game on the third last night, so maybe that'd be a better fit for him. Besides, it's better to sign a proven locker-room leader than to call up Sergei Kostitsyn, whose intangibles have to be questioned.

He'd go back to the Devils if they wanted him.

What a surprise, Everson with filth and a Rangers fan eats it up.

Instead of telling people to get a life, why not get a life yourself? You clearly made this thread hoping to incite something. And now you'll get all defensive like "Oh, all I wanted to do was start a thread on Shanahan." Give me a break.

I seem to remember how Sather just strung Shanny along for sometime.

At least Lou was upfront with him, and got things done quickly.

Nice try RangerBoy

I suggest that the op un-twists his panties.

At least Lou didn't string Shanny a long for half a season.
