Aaron Gagnon

The Dallas Stars recalled Aaron Gagnon and placed Steve Ott on IR.

So what's the plan? Scratched tonight and playing 4th line C in Petersen's place tomorrow? Or vice versa?

Not surprised by this. Oblique injuries are nasty little things and can become really chronic if you rush them. Given Ott's history of sports hernias (i.e., other injuries that will linger if you let them), he will probably miss 2-4 weeks total with this.

I don't know how long Ott will be out, but I bet Gagnon goes back down Sunday or Tuesday. They probably don't want to travel with only 12 healthy forwards, and the 4 games in 6 nights probably play into it as well.

EDIT: Wow, I only really pay attention to the schedule for the week ahead. I didn't realize that they have a very heavy schedule for 2 weeks. Starting this past Wednesday (Nashville game), Dallas has 7 games in 11 nights. The last 3 games of the 7 are back to back in Anaheim and LA, a night off, and finishing off with @ St. Louis.

I bet Gagnon is with the team through this stretch. Modano isn't even scheduled to start practicing until Monday.

Sceviour would be playing 4th line minutes for the next 2 weeks (probably scratched at some point), and he'd miss 4 AHL games (playing Top 6 minutes and PP time) assuming the call up stays the duration of this 11 day stretch.

Along with the above, Sceviour would only realistically be an option to play RW at the NHL level. He's not really ready for center responsibilities I don't think. And the Stars' need right now is more at C/LW. Don't worry, his time will come.

Better for Sceviours development to stay in the minors for the season. He'll develop his game a lot better down there than he would up with the big club.

well according to Andrews Lehtinen is just sore, so they are being careful with him by holding him out for this game which I approve of..

I never thought I'd be saying this, but please hurry back Modano..

I thought you were against the signing of all 'old' players? If not, how would that fit into your grand rebuilding program that you have touted for a couple of years now?

I'm trying to understand what the point of calling up Gagnon was if you're going to sit him on the second night of a back-to-back in favor of Mark Fistric (??) at forward. Especially since Gagnon played a pretty good game against Boston and had a faceoff percentage over 50. Now maybe I could see him getting scratched if the plan was to go with 7 D to give the back end a break against the Hawks' pressure, but that's not how they ended up playing it...

Gagnon played Thursday for Texas. This would have been his 3rd game in 3 nights.

Alright, that makes a little sense... but then again Gagnon only played 9 minutes on Friday, the least on the whole team.

About how you would expect. I was having Jon Klemm flashbacks.
Still better than Barch though.

I will switch mine eventually, but I did get a kick out of when it looked like Biggie was arguing with himself.

The alternative was for everyone to switch to Sydor, which might've been the way to go.
