Sweden at the 2010 Olympics

As it stands now, what would the team look like? Bolded players are locks imo.

Zetterberg-Backstrom-Franzen

Sedin-Sedin-Alfredsson

Eriksson-Huselius-Weinhandl (Forsberg takes Husses place if he's fit)

Stalberg-Pahlsson-Sjostrom

Berglund, Samuelsson, Holmstrom, Hornqvist, Davidsson, Omark..

Third line could be weak defensively, but the fourth line would be awesome. Pahlsson with his experience, and two super fast wingers.

Lidstrom-Kronwall

J.Ericsson-Edler

Murray-Enstrom

Öhlund, Hedman, Johnsson, Hjalmarsson, Grossman, Stralman, Oduya

Picked Murray and Ericsson to get some toughness with big frames to clear the crease. Hopefully K.Jonsson will make a comeback too.

Lundqvist
Gustavsson
Markstrom

I wouldn't consider Ericsson as a lock on D. And as the earlier poster said, ****, Franzén's gone.. :/

What up with not including "å, ä, ö" in the names btw? This is the Swedish part of the forum.

If you're behind a non-nordic keyboard you're forgiven!

Agree, sucks that Franzén is gone. Hopefully Forsberg is well enough to take his place

So mad about Franzén.. He would be perfect in a short tournament like the olympics with his clutch play. Maybe there's a small chance he'll be back in time.

Eriksson - Bäckström - Hörnqvist Bäckis to work on a line with 2 scorers like he does for Caps.
Sedin - Sedin - Samuelsson It is always all about the twins and their extra player. Hopefully they keep up their chemistry.
Zetterberg - Påhlsson - Alfredsson This line is up against the best of what ever the other team got.
Steen - Berglund - Sjöström Mostly a energy line but players from here will fill in here and there and used in special teams.

Brunnström - Bergfors extra forwards since it in todays game is mostly about speed.

Lidström - Kronwall
Oduya - Strålman
Öhlund - Edler
Grossman - Enström

Lundqvist
Gustavsson

Sorry, I'm just used to not using å, ä, ö when typing in English

Samuelsson on the first line!!!!!!!oneoneoneoneone!!!!!!!!!!????

Holmstrom is useless these days. Berglund wasn't even given any ice time in the WC without most of the NHL:ers.

Stålberg isnt eligible so he wont be there, Huselius, Sjöström and Franzen() wont either

That second defensive pairing I really dont like and I'm not sure either will be on the team when all is said and done.

Only D I have as locks right now is Lidström and Kronwall. The rest is up for grabs.

Öhlund will likely get the call because of experience, other than that I can see us fielding a young d-squad.

With Franzen out Forsberg really needs to get his **** together, and be part of this.

We need the toughness, that's why I want both Ericsson and Murray.

We still have enough offensive defenders for PP.

Isn't Huselius eligible? He's a first line center in the NHL, and still not on BÅG:s list??

Berglund isn't ready....Nylander never gets the nod from BÅG.. FORSBERG, we need you!!!

Huselius is eligible. I think you are refering to my post. Stålberg on the other hand is not.

The talent level must be high. I chose Huselius instead of a Holmström or a defensive forward, as Axelsson etc. Davidsson and Alfredsson can take defensive roles if necessary. Davidsson (SEL points leader) and Weinhandl (KHL points leader) plus Wallin are very dependable players as supporting cast.

So this is my team now when Franzén is injured: (includes KHL, Weinhandl, and SEL, Davidsson, stat leaders)

Forsberg - Zetterberg - Weinhandl
Sedin - Sedin - Samuelsson
Huselius - Davidsson - Alfredsson
Wallin - Påhlsson - Eriksson

Lidström - Kronwall
Öhlund - Hedman
Enström - Edler
Wallin - Tallinder

Lundqvist
Gustavsson
Enroth

This is something I could probably see happen;

Zetterberg-Bäckström-Alfredsson
Sedin-Sedin-Eriksson
Huselius-Forsberg-Weinhandl
Sjöström-Påhlsson-Steen
Holmström

Lidström-Kronwall
Murray-Enström
Oduya/Öhlund-Grossman
Edler

Lundqvist
Gustavsson
Tellqvist

Reasoning: If Forsberg is fit, he will make Weinhandl even more of a scoring machine than he is with Mårtensson as he has done with several players. And since Weinhandl only belong on the third line we will move Forsberg down there too. Huselius is underrated and works well with Nash and will probably work well with Forsberg.

Eriksson takes the spot on the second line as a goalscorer that orginially belonged to Franzén. H.Sedin is one of the best playmakers and will make Eriksson score alot. Sjöström-Påhlsson-Steen. Energy-line. PKers. Extremly important line.

I want one physical/defensive defenseman on each pairing. Enström is also underrated and is one the first pair in Atlanta and is great on the powerplay. Kronwall, Murray and to some extent Oduya I think is essential in an Olympic played in Canada and on the smaller ice. We need guys that can step up and put people on their butt.

Goalies = no-brainer.

Things have changed the last few weeks.

As it stands now, assuming Forsberg will atleast be around 80%..

Holmstrom-Backstrom-Alfredsson

Sedin-Sedin-Eriksson

Weinhandl-Zetterberg-Forsberg

Bergfors-Pahlsson-Sjostrom

Steen

I made the lines somewhat equal so that other teams can't use tactical warfare like putting in their first line against our weakest - all these lines are decent defensively.
Then Holmstrom, Bergfors & Sjostrom will all take turns in the "big line", leaving Pahlsson with more time on the PK.

When the games are tight we'll use three lines.

Zetterberg-Backstrom-Alfredsson (pure awesomeness)

Sedin-Sedin-Eriksson

Forsberg+what ever two players have looked the best in the game.

Defence.

Edler is out, he's just terrible defensively.

Lidstrom-Kronwall

Murray-Grossman (shut down)

Hedman-Ohlund

Enstrom
