That's a big testament to how our team has been playing in front of him. Not taking anything away from Bryz he is more than pulling his weight right now.
Say WHAAAT?!?!? You could've shared that tidbit a little sooner, no? Was this before or after the Tippett hire?
I did share it via my twitter account. I can't help it I only have like 5 followers.
Before Tippett, but still it seemed a given to me. I don't share this a whole lot, but I'm a HUGE sports handicapper. Have been for years, worked with the former heads of MGM & Mandalay Bay. When the lines came out in the Gaming Today back in mid-september I made a run to place my bet & several others. I also threw a $100 down on the Ducks to win the cup at 18-1. While they are not a huge favorite, the value was there considering teams like the Pens & Sharks are 6-1, the Flyers are 10-1, etc. I like the Ducks chances as much as any of those teams, but I'd rather win $1800 vs. $600 or even $1k.
Hard to say. If you start the season at 5-2... I don't get the impression that it's just a fluke.
If they do make it, much or most of the credit will go to the coaching staff and Don Maloney, in that order. This is not a stacked roster by any means, and by the looks of it, new leadership has worked wonders. Strong defensive hockey and solid goaltending can take you a long way, and those seem to be hallmarks of this team. Goals against have been low so far, but so have SOG. Teams aren't getting the 30 or so per game that they used to; after a casual and unscientific scan of the last few games' box scores, it looks more like an average in the mid-20s.
That said, a lot of pundits counted them out and I suspect a lot of other teams did too. They've had the element of surprise, but that won't last. Things will get more difficult as teams realize that they need to show up against the Coyotes, and that's when we'll see how far the team has come.
