only 6 d ?

Does it worry you that the habs have only been carrying 6 defennsemen for the last few games? What if 1 of the 6 got hurt in warm up? I just don't understand why ?

It does bother me a little. I would have liked to see Belle stay up and possibly dress 7 D with MAB getting limited 5 on 5 time.

They want to save the most cap space possible, IMO.

Very, very few players get hurt in warmup. Usually if they do, it's because of an already existing injury.

I don't understand this either. They should bring up Weber or Belle and start him and bench Hal Gill<----

I believe that if Belle stayed up once Bergeron was called he would have to clear waivers. The same holds true now that if they call him with 6 healthy dmen on the roster. I think that Weber, Carle and Subban are the only Dmen that are waiver exempt. Can someone tell me if that's right or is there another scenario?

I don't think Belle should go through re-waivers, his AHL salary is 105 000$.

http://www.nhlscap.com/waivers.htm

Quote:
Re-entry waivers – new to this CBA is the provision that certain players recalled to the NHL must clear waivers to join the team holding his NHL rights; any other team may claim said player for 50% of his cap hit and salary, with the team attempting to recall taking the other 50% of each. In general, players are not subject to re-entry [recall] waivers unless:

The player is on a -way contract and is subject to waivers when assigned to the minors; or
The player is on a 2-way contract whose minor league salary is in excess of
2007-08: $100,000
2008-09: $100,000
2009-10: $105,000
2010-11: $105,000
2011-12: $105,000
The players (presently in AHL) who would have to passed through recall waivers are Alex Henry, Mike Glumac and Mathieu Darche.

Yes, Weber, Carle and Subban are the only D's in Hamilton that are waiver exempt.

Belle already cleared waivers after camp, so he's waivers exempt for 30 'roster days' or 10 NHL games.

Shawn Belle doesnt really count as a defenceman so we really are carrying 5.

Thanks for the info. You need to be a law professor to understand all the rules. By the way, has Henry cleared waivers yet given that he is still injured?
