Minnesota <--> Chicago

Harding for Skille.

Harding will never get ahead of Backstrom, through no real fault of his own. Skille makes too much money for the Hawks to play him and too many good forwards to give him the ice time he has earned.

Harding may not be the be all end all of goalies, but he has to be better than Huet.

The Wild could get a much better offer.

I do agree, but they don't have much cap space. I had a higher quality offer from Chicago in mind but the Wild couldn't afford it and trying to dump salary back to Chicago doesn't really work.

I think assets without cap implications, including their first round pick, are quite available from Chicago this year, if someone offers what they need (right now, a #1 goalie, with a #5 defenseman the second need).

Hawks got to add something, they have 3 second round picks this year, something along those lines would help make this work.

C.Schneider
O'Brein

I dont think the Hawks want Schneider. They need a goalie that can be a good starter now, not in 3 years

And this helps us win cup how?

As for the trade

How about this

To Hawks
G Josh Harding

To Wild
LW Billy Sweatt
Calgary's 2nd in 2010 or 2011 (Wild's choice)
Hawks 3rd in 2011

Harding has more value than Skille, but Chicago could make it work with an additional pick(s) or prospect(s). That would be a solid addition to their team.

Chicago would need to add a little more, but it's a good start.

Would a second round pick make it work?

I don't think Harding has proven himself sufficiently yet to draw a first himself. However, what about first and Skille for Harding and Leddy?

This is almost certainly not fair. Gotta try to make the trades fair to the other team, I mean not only is Leddy from MN, wasn't he a first rounder THIS YEAR?!?

What about Skille+Calgary's 2nd??? I would also probably be fine with Hawks' 1st straight up for Harding- i mean this isn't going to be a particularly high pick.

I actually like Blackhawkswincup's proposal as well- didn't know the Hawks have CGY's 2nd in 2011 also...nice. Definitely can trade some picks then. Sweatt might be a good prospect for the Wild's transition out of the trap. Personally, I think he might be more valuable to the Hawks than other teams due to his ridiculous speed but I think he could be a good pickup for MN.

Would also consider trading Versteeg if we got a bit more back from Minnesota (defensive D-man maybe??). While you have to think the Hawks are committed to seeing how Beach pans out, he could be traded also and would be a higher value prospect than Skille/Sweatt. Especially, remember that Skille is on the last year of his ELC, so that takes away some of his value since if he does produce when given ice time he could cost the Wild more than an ELC for Beach/Sweatt.

Where do the Wild particularly need help? It does seem like they have to move Harding while he should have good value across the league, rather than sit him behind Backstrom for another couple years.

Interesting...but I don't see that happening this year, would probably hurt the chance at the Cup unless you think the Wild D-men are really as good at puck moving as Campbell...if so, well, it's a lot to give up both the 1st and 2nd...but you have to think about doing this to open up the cap space heading into next year. I worry that the more space the Hawks have, the bigger TKK's contracts will be, however. They'll fit them into whatever open space they can get, so trading Campbell might lead directly to a big overpayment...hmm

I actually think Minny and Chi would make great trade partners.

I'd say Harding for a 2nd would be nice. We'd love to get Sharp, but don't have the space to take on much salary.

Can't afford Campbell with that deal. We only lose about $9M in cap with those three players leaving and we take in a huge $7M deal that is too much overpayment when Burns and Koivu are up for signings in the next 2 offseasons, especially Mikko. As I posted in the other thread:

MIN:
Sharp

Chicago:
Harding
ZIdlicky

You don't need that much on the backline past your Top 4 and you still get the young goalie you are really looking for. We get another Top 6 forward that we need for depth moreso than anything.

^ Zidlicky is too redundant on the Hawks atm, and sharp has more value then that, he is a steal at $3.9 and guys like Versteeg & Barker should be traded before him.

NHL ready and start as soon as next year don't really go together without the word isn't somewhere in the sentence.

Actually no, I would say that one can be NHL ready but not ready until next year to be a starting goaltender by playing 60-70 games.
