Fact still remains whether or not,
A) Nabokov wants to show up or not (aka first few games as to now)
B) Were the Sharks playing down to the Islanders in that first period?
C) The Sharks mentality towards us.

They're coming into one of the loudest and toughest arenas in the league, facing a team that has won 7 in a row. You know they aren't going to come out flat footed. I think our win here solely resides with our play and puck possession. If we come out playing like we did in Jersey, we're losing this game. If we come out playing normally, odds are pretty even if the Sharks come out like we do. If we come out playing like we did against the ducks or the third period with the Leafs, odds are we'll win. Should be an exciting game. Let's go Rangers!

Our record hasn't got anything to do whether we're an average team or not, and no it's not impressive yet, we started off slow. Our forward lineup is arguably the best in the league, but chemistry has been lacking so far as one would expect seeing as half the team is new almost.

If the Sharks come out playing like we Sharks fans know they will eventually, they will win, but anything other than that and I expect a loss. Our first period usually kills us.

Oh really? The Sharks will win if they play like they should? Dont think so. The Rangers will win if THEY play like they should.

Half our team is new also, but we're not making excuses.

Wasn't Avery on the 2nd, and Higgins on the 3rd line in the second half of the Toronto game? I think to remember those line combos out there a few times already

Two old friends return tonight

Quote:
When Malhotra joined the Rangers at age 18, he lived with a family on the outskirts of the city in an environment similar to the one outside Toronto that had been his home.

"I grew up in the suburbs, hated city life, but I decided I have to live in New York City just to say I lived in New York City," he said. "And after about a week or two of being there, I couldn't get enough of it — the restaurants, the culture, everything about it."
Quote:
Ortmeyer, who will be facing the Rangers for the first time at Madison Square Garden, said playing there had definite perks.

"You get to meet a lot of people; a lot of famous faces that show up at the game end up in the green room," he said. "You go to events — a lot of cool things in the city, openings and stuff like that".

The final count on the number of friends and family members who were on hand to witness Ryan Vesce’s first NHL goal against the Islanders, most of whom traveled all of 25 miles or so to see the historic event: 15.

Speaking of Vesce, here’s the full explanation as to how he grew up as a Rangers fan, though the Islanders were closer to his Lloyd Harbor home.

“My dad took me to a playoff gme when I was 7 and ever since then I fell in love with the Garden,” he said. “The city is only 40 minutes from my house and this is 30. I live on the north shore of Long Island and we had a lot of Ranger fans there. It was pretty mixed.”

Notice how all of the kids growing up in the area who became hockey players were all Ranger fans

Sanguinetti
JVR
Shattenkirk
Vesce
Palmieri

No stinking Devils and no sucky Islanders. Not to mention the Rangers were pathetic when those players were in their formative hockey years.

Avery, Drury, Cally is a line that produced last year. Good to see Torts bring them back together. Thought that was always the plan, but probably needed to give Avery some time in coming back.

We own SJ at MSG 8-2. Don't think Heatley will get them over the hump.

I see no reason The Rangers won't be keyed up for this match and get their 8th straight. We are the better team. I think our streak will probably end on the Island.

No mention of Heatley

Quote:
Let’s see how San Jose Sharks left winger Dany Heatley handles this delicious new career challenge. With the Sharks’ power play stuck in an early season slump, coach Todd McLellan bumped Heatley down to the No.2 unit for last Saturday’s game against the New York Islanders.

Predictably, the move to reunite last year’s top unit of Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau and Devin Setoguchi paid immediate dividends as the Sharks went an efficient 2-for-3 with the man advantage, with Thornton turning in a virtuoso performance. Heatley, remember, demanded a trade of out Ottawa last season after his role was “diminished” by Senators’ coach Cory Clouston, in part because he was shifted to the second power-play unit.

This will be a fantastic test for the Rangers. So much top end talent on this team. We can't get too down as a fan base if they lose this one.

7-1......what a start. I go into games now with the though well they have to lose sometime.........and it is SJ.....with that they will likely win it and pump me up even more........I'm pretty happy if this one goes into OT even but I hope they surprise me yet again

Plus honestly the Sharks 3rd and 4th lines are not as deep as ours. Yes Yes their top 2 is stacked but depth wise we have them

I was thinking the same thing. Top 6 is solid. But if Jed is on your third line you've got problems.

Nice GDT AOWRanger. The only thing I noticed is that Pavelski was put on the IR a few days ago, so he's not DTD anymore technically. Otherwise, good luck getting #8 guys

While Torts is messing with the lines, I think it would be more beneficial to the team if he tried to get Higgins going, rather then demote him and cut his ice time.

Two forwards need a push; Higgins and Drury.

So spread out the guys who are producing and see if they can get those two going.

Higgins. Dubinsky. Gaborik
Prospal. Drury. Kotalik
Avery. Anisimov. Callahan
Brashear. Boyle. Lisin

Just a thought.

Besides anything else, that second line of Avery-Drury-Callahan is pretty small.

I understand what your saying but there is no way there are breaking the top line with the way they are going right now. yes Avery-drury-Cally is a small line but those are also three real tough hard working players which i think more than makes up for it
