Cory Murphy by NJ

Quote:
Murphy struggled in the three games he played this season—the Devils lost all three—and Andy Greene has played well.in the four games he’s played and Murphy sat out—the Devils won all four. Greene’s play factored into the decision to try to send Murphy down. Devils coach Jacques Lemaire said during training camp that he probably wouldn’t keep both Greene and Murphy on the team because they are similar in size (Greene is listed at 5-11, 190 and Murphy is listed at 5-9, 175) and playing style.

Greene has been very impressive so far this season so this really isn't a shock. Murphy was very good in the pre-season but stunk up the joint in his first few games. I don't think anyone will claim him.

Smurph just hasn't been able to translate his game to the NHL. He's a good guy, but he'll probably do a lot better in the AHL.

I'm sure it's the other way around. Cory Murphy waived New Jersey.

It's not like he has'nt been a career minor leaguer. Would not be totally shocked if the Rangers took him as their 7th Dman aswell

With the Canucks decimated by blueline injuries, they may have some interest to get some depth for the PP. They can send him down to the moose when Schneider and Salo return.

Kane just skated around him like he was standing still, and turned it into a breakaway goal.

It was ungood by Murphy.

Because the Rangers are totally in the market for a an offensive defenseman who can barely contribute offensively and has absolutely no concept of defense.

Give me a break.

Definitely not his fault. But he did suck in the three games he was in.

If suckage was the only reason behind the decision to waive him then we have a couple of regulars who should be waived too then. Murphy only sucked for three games, but we have guys who have sucked in all of our 7 games.....

he caused 2 goals, 1 short handed, vs atlanta. Having him at the point was scary on the PP. His shot wasnt worth it

he played well for us last season, trust me he cant be worse than Foster. And he is much better if he plays like last season.

I think the Oilers might claim him if Souray and Staios are out for a while.

Murphy looked good in preseason, but once the real season started, he was a mess. Just goes to show you, preseason doesn't mean all that much.

I bet he gets sniped on re-entry

But as for now, welcome to Lowell, Cory.

Murphy has a two-way contract with an AHL salary of less than $105,000, so if he clears waivers and is sent down, he would not have to clear re-entry waivers to be called back up.
Rob Davison may get a look before Murphy.
