HALF has nothing to do with it, no matter how many times you capitalize it. Teams don't fill out their third and fourth lines with $3M+ players. Most fourth lines feature players making league minimum. It really would not be that difficult.
Right now, the bottom half of the lineup costs the Bruins 13.2m - and that's counting Lucic (and his ELC) as a bottom-6 forward.
Kobasew was moved to make room for the salary cap so we can sign Savard hence the rumors of Kovalchuk. The main reason Kovalchuk hopefully gets traded to the Bruins is to play with Savard. If the b's organization does not wish to sign savard next year, there really is no point of getting Kovalchuk yet. In exchange for Kovalchuk, the B's should give up Hamill, Marchand, and the 2010 draft pick they got for Kessel. Both hamill and marchand can easily crack the lineup in Atlanta.
