Barker to Montreal?

David Pagnotta from The Fourth Period is reporting a colleague in Chicago has let him know that Cam Barker's name has popped up in the same conversations involving the Montreal Canadiens...Halak and Sergei possibly???

If we trade with Chicago I hope we can also pick up Troy Brouwer...there's decent potential in that big body.

That trade look a lot like what we discussed here already... I dont see Sanford as a back up with the Habs.

Too bad Halak never had a chance here, but I expect him to post very similiar numbers as Price if not better throughout his career for a fraction of the price. It will give chicago a great backup, and eventual replacement for huet.

Sanford + Barker >>>>>> Halak + Whatever

Barker would solve a lot of problems on the team.

No chance.

How many defensemen can this team possibly carry?

You're just assuming that Barker is better than any other option we have actually. Because to make that trade means we take on salary. You could have the best of both worlds, and wait for Free Agency to sign another dman, or just trade another trade chip instead of Halak. But, I am still not sold on Price, and would hate for us to end up trading the better goalie that could turn out to be Halak.

God **** let it be!!!!

Barker would be a dream addition for us, makes the Mcdonagh trade go away for ever, solves our shot problem on the pp for many years, please god let it be!

I say Barker for Halak and Georges

if this deal involves halak i say wait till the trade deadline and get way more bang for your buck ........ trade sergei for a pick or whatever but when a team at the deadline thats in the running needs a goalie we should get a better return.

Ya, sorry. Also forgot that Sergei was part of the deal too, so my guess is Halak, Sergei and Georges for Barker and a 3rd or Brouwer

If Chicago is shedding salary, we need to do what we can to get Sharp. There is just no way they can handle Campbell, Teows, Kane, Keith, Huet and Sharp salary wise next season. When is Versteeg an RFA?

this team has so many problems to address

a puck moving defenseman who can also plays defense
a top 6 fwd with size
a physical 3rd line player
a shutdown 2-way player with size

I dont really take the fourth period too seriously, and I think it would take much much more than halak to get barker out of chicago... much more

and somehow you have to do the trade knowing chicago is against the cap which likely means trading a top notch propsect.

If Barker is coming here I am 100% confident that Gorges is part of the trade

Another BS rumor... Even though, I hope that Sergei can join his best friend Patrick Kane so that both destroys the competition once again. Sergei will flourish there no doubt.

Sergei is just too good to be in the AHL, it is just unfair, seeing slugs like Stewart, D'Agostini, Chipchura, Lapierre, Latendresse, Laraque and Pacioretty playing in the NHL, while it should be Sergei taking one of their spot.

But just for fun:

To Montreal:

Cameron Barker
Troy Brouwer
Corey Crawford

To Chicago:

Sergei Kostitsyn
P.K. Subban
Jaroslav Halak
2nd round pick 2010

To get Barker, you have to give something worthy... Sorry to burst you're balloons video gamers !!
