Detroit

A few games into the season and the wings havent been looking that great, and if they continue to struggle what offers would you make? Im willing to listen to any reasonable offer(No Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Lidstrom offers please)

the most likely to be traded from detroit are:
Val Fillpula- 3 mill
Brad Stuart- 3.75 mill
Brian Rafalski- 6 mill
Jimmy Howard- 650k
Ville Leino- 850k
Jason Williams- 1.5 mill
Derek Meech- 500k
Jiri Hudler's NHL rights- 3.4 mill? (i cant remember exactly)
(These are simply guys i think holland would listen to offers for btw, some have NMCs and such)

IN return we'd want draft picks, prospects, youth in general.

Fire Away..

Canadiens and Detroit work a deal around

Cleary, Meech, Osgood, Williams

Kostitsyn Brothers, Weber, Latendresse, Halak?

Not this exactly like that. But work a deal around the players listed?

Do you guys need a goalie? We're looking for another top-6 forward to add. We are looking to deal Lukas Krajicek, so how about:

Lukas Krajicek D (1.475 m cap hit) and 2010 third or second round pick

for Val Fillpula (3 m cap hit)

BTW, are you guys really looking to trade Leino?

The Wings Need to keep rafalski he is a key component to there winning, Unless they get young talent in return. If they want to make a deal out of these guys I say they Trade Val.

Wings Trade

Valteri Fillipula
Brad Stuart
4th

Montreal Trades
PK Subban
Guillaume Latendress

The Habs are struggling with scoring Depth and Latendress isnt adding much for them. He could fit well and play better with a change of scenery. PK Subban a great spect is down and not playing. While Montreal has an empty spot on defense with Markov getting hurt for a while. Stuart Fills The Defense Void and Fillipula adds scoring depth. Detroit Gets Great young talent to add to there team and defense soon enough and adds a player to replace Val. They Proabaly wouldnt make this deal but it makes lots of sense for each teams current needs.
Just an idea haha

Wings are not going to trade any of these assets. Well, except for Meech. The rest was signed by us for a reason. And there is absolutely no chance we trade Val.

I guess we (Detroit) needs to add something to make this trade more balanced... Don't you think so?

Seriously, there are no players on Canadians roster we are interested in.

Stuart has a no trade Clause, so he would have to waive that before he would ever be traded and I doubt he would the amount he has been traded in recent years.

And why would the Wings trade Filppula? He has been their 2nd best forward this season behind Zetterberg.

I dont want to trade Val, hes one of my favorite players. But if like i said in my OP if the wings are in a poor position come trade deadline time, i wouldnt mind seeing them reload.

No chance? Filppula is hardly an untouchable player. You're confusing the fact that Holland is too scared to make a trade that involves anything more than a B-level prospect or a 2nd rounder with Filppula being untouchable.

So? Our forwards have been crap. Filppula has a whopping 4 points in 7 games. He ranks behind guys like Williams and Holmstrom in production despite getting 18+ minutes a night these days.

As for Stuart, his NTC expires in July, so if the Wings wanted to trade him, hes only holding off the inevitable.

So that leaves the Wings with....zero....defensive defenseman. Or are we still carrying on as though Ericsson is anything more than an offensive defenseman stuck in a role that he can't fill?

Its not bad value wise, but it doesn't address the Wings needs of a shutdown Dman or a proven 1B/1A goalie.

There is no sense to trade Val and this is the only reason Holland is not going to do that. Val is 2nd line center. Who do you think we are going to get for him? Latendresse? Yes, that is a possibility. But he is complete garbage who can barely skate. Who else? We are not getting Horton for him, for example...

shhh we arent supposed to say that about kenny

seriously tho if the wings were to move flip in a deal like:
Minnesota-
Brent Burns
Colton Gillies

Detroit-
Filpula
Meech/Lebda
4th round pick

*then move stuart or rafi

I dont think anyone would flip a *itch...

Val is 2nd line center? Yeah, when we have two key injuries hes a 2nd line center. Theres a reason he was still starting the season on the third line at the age of 25.

And who said anything about Latendresse or Horton? You think we'd just trade Filppula for the sake of trading Filppula? Or do you know who all the available players are that we could get for Filppula?

PS, this is a pure gem of a comment:

Stuey's hardly been a shutdown d-man this year, and Ericsson can still develop as his prime is 2 years away.
Plus Halak, although not proven in the playoffs, is young and has as good a value any other goalie we could acquire,(ie. Biron).

The Wild would never trade Burns for Filppula. If we wanted Burns, we would have to trade Kronwall for him straight up which, IMO, would be a good move because while Kronwall is better offensively and slightly cheaper, Burns is better defensively and younger. We need more defensive presence on our blueline, and Kindl, Smith, and Ericsson are all offensively inclined already.

looks like this is exactly what you're advocating. Are you not satisfied with his play? He was the best player out there this season. Had 16 pts during last year's SC run. What else should he do? You just mentioned we're not getting top end talent so what is the reason to trade him?

Halak has as good of value because hes young, not proven. The Wings have Larsson whos 23 who'll be given a chance next season if Howard doesn't pan out. They don't need a young goalie.

As for Biron, the fact that he "doesn't have as much value" is a good thing, because he'd cost less. Hes got the playoff experience that the Wings would need going into the playoffs. Unless, of course, we're talking about Detroit not making the playoffs, then of course I would take Halak over Biron.

Regarding Stuart, while he hasn't been great, hes been steadier than any of our other Dmen have been in their own zone. And there is absolutely no indication that Ericsson is going to be a good defensive defenseman. Hes trash positionally and if it weren't for his size, he'd be dominated by most skilled forwards in the game. What he has the potential to be is a Cam Barker-esque defenseman, but nothing close to a defensive stalwart.

oh well. Kelly is 4th liner with no potential at all. Zubov is underachiever. Abdelkader still has some potential to be better than 4th line center. Bert and Williams are 2nd line players with 20 goals potential.

counter proposal:

Michalek, Kelly for Abdelkader and Williams. Would you bite on that?

We're not getting top end talent for him straight up, no. Nor do we need top end talent, but when was the last time that a player couldn't be traded simply because he can't garner a better piece on his own? Thats rarely the case. Filppula in a package with other players, picks, prospects, or anything else, could garner a niece piece to the puzzle that could diversify the Wings. Maybe someone that could actually score goals without having them spoonfed to him.

There is no way in Hell Minnesota would do that

They Lose There Best Young Dman who is playing great and is going to be very good for a while and one of there best young spects for filpula who is good and meech or lebda who are not.

We are taking a look at this question from different points of view. We are not in trouble now, nor will be as season progresses. We went twice to SCF with this guy contributing. Do not see any reasons for us to trade him. You are not trading good players with some potential left just to re-energize the team. Look, Toronto fought to death in their each loss this season. Their roster is full of energy guys...
