FYI, Fleischmann is on LTIR so he is not eligible to play in the NHL until Tuesday's game.

Latest updates from the beat writers - Erskine and Gordon traveling with the team, but Gordon is not expected to play on Thursday.

Wait and see mode as to whether Semin plays and/or whether a wing was called up and/or they play Sloan as a winger if Semin can't play.

This is going to be a tough game. I'm sure he thrashers see it as a measuring stick game. Kovylchuck thinks this is the best team atlanta has had since he's been there. I'm sure the feeling in the locker room is pretty good.

The caps need to not let down against a "lesser" team or they are going to get whipped. Varly needs to have a good game and the boys need to be focused defensively or little, kovy, peverly, white, etc. are going to work them.

excited to see Kane, few highlights of him thus far in the NHL have been pretty impressive.

agreed with malyk - we need to bring our "A" game (and really thats the case most every night for a true contender)

This indeed pains me:

Anderson always has that s* eating grin during the game - like he has BBs #. He has it in spades tomorrow night.

Caps get semi pounded 4-1 and learn yet another valuable early season lesson involving work ethic, patience and system play.

Thrashers are gonna want this game way more then the Caps. Hopefully good goaltending and Ovechkin can steal a point or two for us.

4-3 Caps!

Hopefully Naughtydog's servers will go down tonight so I can actually watch this game...compared to...playing Uncharted2...again.

Long ass time between games, NHL. It's a goddamned Olympic year, and you've handing out five-day rests? Go to your room and think about what you've done. Why have all your teams play only on Thursday and Saturday nights, then virtually no games for five nights a week? It's bullcrap!

Every team wants Friday and Sunday games along with Saturday games. All of them. Make it happen.

Why is Samuel L Jackson so pissed off? Has he had it up to here with the NHL's scheduling too?

This one could be ugly, as Atlanta looks pretty solid lately. Then again, they lost to a crap Montreal team the other night, so maybe there's hope. Here's to hoping for a good night from the likes of Semin, the centers, a modicum of defensive responsibility, and that the layoff doesn't have the team rusty as hell. Tired of Ovechkin being the only guy bringing his A game.

Nuts, Semin is sick, isn't he? Crap.

Somehow, that is also Schedule Man's fault. Half a Nylander for you.

Most NHL teams don't want anything to do with playing on Sunday before NFL is done.
They don't want to play on Monday Night either. After that they dont want to play back to back.

So...they want to play Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday.

For the lineups, expect Little and Afinogenov to trade places. Nothing official but they made the switch in the 3rd period of their game vs. Montreal and are using those lines in practice right now.

I was wondering why this wasn't used from the beginning of the year?...The Kozlov-White-Little line was dynamite towards the end of last year.

No surprise, but Varlamov is starting tonite.

Sloan and Erskine aren't playing either, so Morrisonn will be in the line-up.
