OT: The Lakers thread

There was a Dodgers thread so I figure why not have a Lakers thread especially when they are favorites to repeat.

Love the Artest acquisition. Ariza is retarded if he thinks he'll get nearly as many good looks in Houston as he did playing alongside Kobe.

Sasha cut his hair...contract year for Farmar.

Season starts soon. What are your predictions? Who would you rather see the Lakers play in the Finals (assuming we make it) the Celts or the Cavs?

Discuss.

Hopefully the Lakers win the Championship again so I can go looting and vandalize a few buses next summer.

Like yourself think the swap of Ariza<>Artest will make them only better. Its going to be an interesting year, P. Jackson has never won a championship and not repeated at least once. Would be awesome playing BOS or CLE in the finals though I'd prefer beating BOS but wouldn't mind Kobe beating Shaq/LeBron.

Peter Jackson is coaching the Lakers? That is pretty cool. Does he dress them up in costumes?

I was referring more to having a sense of humor, the greatest evolutionary attribute in human history.

The greatest evolutionary attribute in human history is the mental equivalent of the "ignore" button.

Can I "ignore" a whole thread, so it just doesn't show up on the board at all? That would be cool.

Just seeing the name "Lakers" on a hockey board puts me off.

Honestly guys if you don't like basketball then don't post in the thread. Basic forum etiquette. Cutty...dude you don't like baseball or basketball. We get it already. You don't have to post ******** in every OT sports thread.

I like your attempt, but i gave up on this place being respectful to an OT Lakers thread years ago. Funny how as hockey fans we probably defend our sport more than anyone else, our team too since we have been the Clippers of hockey for so long...yet are so quick to bash an organization in our own city that is the definition of winning.

I read an article when Kotipar was a rookie that he became good friends with a fellow slovenian player on the Lakers. I posted this article to the biggest Laker forums there is and they genuinely wanted to know more about Kopitar and how the Kings were doing. You can see in this thread and others like it how that same article would be received here

*edit* oh and to answer your question, the Celtics. While I would love to watch the media react to Kobe and the Lakers beating their "chosen one" AND Shaq...the old school fan in me enjoys the rivalry with the Celtics above all else.

Let's not forget Artest at Kings games. Makes this highly relevant

Should be a good year for the Lakers, if Artest doesn't go crazy. I don't really care who they face in the Finals (hope they get there), f the entire East.

A note about OT threads. We allow more of them than usual during the off-season. When hockey season starts, given this is a hockey forum, we are asked to limit the # of OT threads.

We have a stickied OT thread at the top for folks to talk about the Lakersduring the season. If the Lakers make the postseason, then we'll allow a separate thread for them as we have in the past. Until then, please use the stickied OT thread to discuss basketball.
