Don't quote me on it, but I think he got off to a slow start last year also. Probably why he didn't make the team from camp.

I think he's the real deal.

What were you expecting? He has 4 points in 7 games, which means he has a point in more than half of them.

He will turn it on as the season progresses and he get's comfortable. It's 7 games.

The only people who should be disappointed are the ones who had unrealistic expectations to begin with. He's a 19-year old kid playing professional hockey for the first time. It's gonna take time for him to adjust to the speed of the game and the size of the competition he's facing.

It has been 7 games!

He is just getting his feet wet in his 1st professional season, and is on pace for like 50pts. as a 19 yo.

Only on HFboards do we judge players after a few games

I have to agree with this. He was playing with Elite Junior talent last year and put up decent OHL numbers. Earth shattering? I don't think so personally. It may be best just to let this kid build behind the barn. Far from a sure bet we were hearing last year but never the less a good prospect developing

I think you're downplaying his ability after 7 games with your "maybe not a sure thing but still a good prospect" talk. He's got an incredible skill set and is 19 years old adjusting to the first time he's playing professional hockey.

Boy, that didn't take long.

He's a 19-year old playing his first month in the AHL.

Anisimov was a very rare example of a very young kid dominating the AHL. And plus, as young as he was he was still 2+ years older than Grachev I believe. I would be fine with 40 points out of Grachev just like Anisimov's first season, as long as he's improving. And I don't see why he won't. There has been no question about his work ethic

Squishy, is it just me or is he not getting much icetime now? It seemed like pluggers such as Crowder are getting more icetime...at this level I'm never sure if it's a great idea to "ease" a talented player in or what. Yeah it's a big jump, but at the same time, a guy has to play in order to get better

I only saw part of the game yesterday. Did they even play him once on the PP?

When I first saw this, I thought it was about Russian Beer.

He'll have to adjust to the pro game, he'll be fine. Give him a few months.

When I first saw this, I thought someone had cloned a Russian version of Donald Brashear.

Oh boy. An Islanders fan telling us we should be disappointed in a prospect. Real credible. Can't believe this thread has 20 responses.

This guy seems pretty obsessed with the Rangers lately and posts all over the place about their players, prospects, etc

The Rangers should trade him and a 1st rounder for Pascal Dupuis.

That "plugger" has 6 points in the first 7 games of his rookie season and as of Monday was tied for 5th in rookie scoring.

I'm not really worried about the amount of ice time Grachev's been getting. He's playing on the Pack's second line and second power play unit. He's also playing with the Pack's best center in Locke. Yes, Gernander could load up the first line with Grachev, Locke and Parenteau, but that doesn't leave a whole lot of talent to filter through the rest of the lines. Moreover, if you watch closely you'll notice that, come crunch time, Crowder loses his ice time to Locke. So I'm not convinced he's actually getting any more ice time than Grachev is.

And not for nothing, but Grachev's play hasn't exactly screamed "I deserve more ice time!"

Keep in mind that as a 19-year old rookie Anisimov also played on the Pack's second line and got second unit power play time. It wasn't until his sophomore season that he centered the top line and power play unit...

We need to deal him for whatever we can get while his value is still high. We clearly have another Montoya situation on our hands.
